24.01.2022 Hope to see lots of St Kildaites at this gig coming up this Saturday at the Bowlo. A guaranteed great day of rock and roll!!

20.01.2022 The fckg quacks who call themselves responsible yet claim no responsibility, only payment, are at it again. Wasting precious creative and community time and resources, for Fck knows why, theres barely a scrap of logic within any of what goes on. It only damages and yes kills people. pass it on https://www.instagram.com/p/BtzSjP6gu9_/

19.01.2022 Stoked to announce the state government's continued support of Victorian live music venues with Good Music Neighbours. Our state has a strong network of live m...usic venues, with Melbourne home to more venues per capita than anywhere else in the world, this is worth supporting and protecting. - Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley MP Applications are now open via Creative Victoria - http://creative.vic.gov.au//music-works-good-music-neighbo. #goodmusicneighbours #musicworks

18.01.2022 The media is awash with the news of the immediate closure of the Greyhound Hotel and the status of the sale of The Gatwick Hotel. Just in time for the weekend. There is much very shocking news. Our hearts go out to all of those who are impacted. Please take care of yourselves out there!! Seek the support of friends and family. Reach out to the help services available if you need assistance. There's no shame in asking for help and from a community coming together to support e...ach other through massive (avoidable, but I feel attacking this issue a second priority right now.) shitpiles such as the one we seem to find learing down us as we commence 2017. All is not lost, change is disruptive and has a tendency to be inconsiderate, even damn right mean. But I'd personally rather attack a way through this that provides a future, which takes time, effort and a clear head. After ensuring everyone is ok out there. And determining who needs support and how. And making sure they receive it. Be good to yourselves. Be good to each other. We can get through this. (And fuck off any arseholes who belittle, devalue, gaslight or bully you into feeling that your feelings and concerns have no value or context in the present and in the future.) Pass it on. #stkildasheartneverleft #oursoulisnotforsale #culturaldepreciation #whatfuckingrockdidyoulookundertostatenocommunityvalue? #coppyoureoutoftouchorcorruptofprocess #councilprovidescommunityleadershiptoregenerateourculturalinfrastructure-yeahright

16.01.2022 Clearly politicians, councillors, the police and others dont think about people as problematic on an individual level. Increasingly, however, the public at large is seen by these officials through the prism of risk, and over-stretched police (who have faced significant funding cuts) have resorted to so-called stats-related policing rather than working out in partnership with venues how to mitigate any of the costs of nightlife.

16.01.2022 Not the start to 2017 we were after! Please have a read below and help Save St Kilda Courtyard. Any support will go a long way towards getting 2017 back on track. Keeping the space alive will mean Pay A Sack Forward - PASF will continue to grow and assist people living on the street.

15.01.2022 Are you a COPP artist or musician? Have you been excluded from the St Kilda Festivals government led curatorship year after year? With no reason or excuse? Tweet or post your stories to #stkildafestexclusionzone #sureisadryzone #stkildafest #safeartequalsrugsweeping

15.01.2022 Attention: Musicians, Bands, Singer/Songwriters... Applications to play at the 2017 Live N Local Festival are now open! For details and to apply;

15.01.2022 I've got a lot to say about this as I've been following this venues place in our city for a number of years now. But as our cities bureaucrats work for the rate payers. are so incredibly good at cloaking their activities. and gaslighting anyone who comes forward to fight the live music issue by painting them as single issue and regressive of the cities change towards a day economy inner surburban lifestyle destination. I'll just leave this petition here for you to comment on and share. After the espy experience with council staff last year, I can't quite bring myself right now to again be patted on the head and told to run along little girl, don't worry your pretty little head about it. Leave it to the big boys. Over and out. Michelle

14.01.2022 The heritage assessment for the Gh is under review. Get your comments in to support a heritage overlay on this incredibly important part of our cities creative infrastructure. A city full of retail and apartments = no place for us music lovers! Don't let them take away our valuable spaces. Here you go. They're asking you to Have your say. (Because saying things to these guys gets shit done. And gives us hope for the future of our diverse, creative, successful music city. Yeah right. Blah. You guys sux.)

14.01.2022 This with these guys this Friday. I have a rich and varied life!!! get tix here https://tickets.myguestlist.com.au//bobb/evs58edc39c3087c/

13.01.2022 Headline - latte loving lifestyle set kills off late night culture. Now they're offering you a spot amongst the scraps. Haha (I wonder did St Kilda Festival and White Night musicians and artists get paid?)

12.01.2022 Music as a career has value in our day to day communities. It's not just a tv show, a concert tour, a hit played for millions. It's the everyday reality, pursuit, investment, practise, for everyday people amongst us as well. Who through this vehicle and the communities that spring up around it. Enable the art that inspires people to reach us. And the art that flows out of people get to be free. #musicliveshere #wehavevalue

11.01.2022 An interesting report.

10.01.2022 I was walking home from the Inkie gig on Saturday. I've always loved walking at night, all seasons. Beautiful, a photographers, a writers, dream. Streets empty, apart from fellow nocturnal beings. We passed the Greyhound. Boarded up. Facing the giant white pillars. Dirt across from manicured lawns. A mere stones throw. From places of worship. schools. habitation. Daywalkers. Have taken over. The asylum. A place. That. Prevailing communities. Their personifications, real or ...Continue reading

08.01.2022 The Victorian Music Crawl is a new Victorian Government initiative to build connections between Melbourne and regionally-based music industry leaders. 25 Melbou...rne-based music managers, venue bookers, promoters, artists and music media will undertake a three day tour to Ballarat, Castlemaine, Bendigo and Echuca. Managed by Music Victoria, the Victorian Music Crawl is the first program of its kind in Australia. Three tours will take place across 2017-18 with a tour to the Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland planned for the second half of 2017 and a tour to Geelong, the Surf Coast and Warrnambool scheduled for next summer. Supported as part of the Victorian Governments landmark $22.2 million Music Works program, each trip will include visits to leading regional music venues and events, showcase performances by local artists and meetings with regionally-based music organisations and music media representatives

08.01.2022 And in more positive news.

08.01.2022 We're baaack. This week for another exciting instalment of our weekly performance. Spots are open, filling quickly. All welcome. Is this week your week? To get onstage at the Lyrebird Lounge? See you at the bird. Mich Live N Local St Kilda Beach

07.01.2022 STOP PRESS today's Melbourne RN or Busk event has had to change venue because of larger than expected numbers and safety factors. We'll be in Fed Sq Urban Garden amphitheatre from High Noon. On Fed Sq. With the big screen/Flinders st. station at your back walk straight ahead for 30 metres then turn left between the restaurant and gallery and marshals will be there to guide you. Please tell everyone.

07.01.2022 Well music lovers, it turns out music needs you fighting again. Still. We're not, if we will ever be out of these woods. The Greyhound Hotel is apparently void of any community cultural value and has been flagged for demolition and replacement with more shops - more retail - more offices - more apartments (that bit I don't have a problem with, people need to live somewhere and many people like you and me love living in our cities music heart) The ABC has announced further cut...s that reduce the already limited opportunity of radio airplay to artists you or I might know and relegates it, along with everything else Australian media - limited to what's popular programmed. (Completely forgoing that everyone starts somewhere and popular is a personal taste thing). Merry Christmas music lovers - anyone else thinking it might be a good idea to hang shit instead of mistletoe - over some doors this year? https://www.facebook.com/groups/291495014578867/ See more

07.01.2022 An oldie but a goodie (from the memories). Stay courageous out there! Stay tenacious! Stay strong! Our hearts and minds are with you. #musiclivesheretoo #stkildacreativecity #artistsunite

04.01.2022 St Kilda, leading the way (as always) towards harm minimisation and a healthier approach to the diversity of human experience. About fckg time. (I recall conversations on this very topic back in the early 90's. It's simply fckg embarrassing to be a citizen in the United States of Australia sometimes. But I digress.) Prohibitionist's closed mindedness kills. Real people are open minded and save. go the people of copp for leading the way with their votes.

04.01.2022 Saving live music. One Lemmy at a time. Good luck guys!

04.01.2022 Stay fun and safe people.

03.01.2022 Dear St Kilda Festival, The artists and musicians, past, present and future. Welcome you to this day of live music. The creatives of this city. Respectfully remind you that our lady, of St Kilda, recognises that we walk on stolen land. We respect the rights of the original owners and their wisdom in custodianship that must be returned.... The creatives of this city. Respectfully remind you that our lady, of St Kilda, provides safe harbour, is a lighthouse, an ark, to those who for whatever reason seek refuge that they may feel free to express themselves in whatever form. Those whose safety is not regarded in the harshness of our wide brown lands and from the rough seas over the wide blue yonder. All are welcome here. We remind you this is our home, not your piss party land. Leave your bigotry behind. Respect yourself and others. We remind you that our lady, St Kilda. Supports harm minimisation, safety and recognition for street workers, all marriage rights, the recognition of addiction as a medical condition, the right to remain in your city regardless of income, the rights of artists to act freely in expression and not be censored. We respect our environment and our role in ensuring its future. We work to ensure the city is accessible to all. That mental health, self medication and recovery are real issues that real people experience. That domestic or violence of any kind has no place within our streets or homes. And that we do not sweep our problems under a rug for commercial or tourist entertainment lifestyles. We do not hide ourselves from you, for your fears. We are not here for your entertainment only. This is a real city. Full of real people. And finally. To all the musicians, artists and live music venues participating (or not) today. Have an awesome one! This is your day. Remember we will be here tomorrow. And each day after that. Hold your heads high! These are our times. This is your art! Enjoy. Create. Participate. The punks of St Kilda.

02.01.2022 Information update regarding The Espy.

01.01.2022 Ahhh. Just reading this (on the licensing applications process for new years eve). Aside from using some quite bombastic language such as - 'we're the worst' - 'highest rate - scary scary - fear fear! At this point I would like to say something about apples and pumpkins in comparisons and the use of language - emotional manipulation - of it - to generate fear and hype from a conservative? agenda. ...Continue reading
