25.01.2022 Today Lyn dropped off a beautifully cleaned Redsbaby pram & within 45 minutes we were able to make sure it was safety checked & ready for delivery to a family in regional Victoria in urgent need. Thanks so much Lyn for making a difference in the lives of this family.
25.01.2022 I first heard about St Kilda Mums on a golf course. I was recently retired and was chatting with my playing partner & started talking about keeping busy. I told him that I like to tinker & repair things. He suggested contacting St Kilda Mums, so I did. I particularly like cleaning cots that have been donated but are in need of a really good going over. To me it’s very satisfying to bring them back to a new condition. We have a great crew in the cot department & Rob is a grea...t team leader. It’s nice to give some time and see good things being done. - Wayne (left), St Kilda Mums Volunteer, pictured with Rob (Senior Cotologist) To learn more about volunteering and to register, click here: https://www.stkildamums.org/pages/volunteer-with-us

23.01.2022 It was so great to see our friends from Interchange Outer East today who we've greatly missed! They dropped off donations which they'd taken the time to meticulously clean & prepare, meaning they'll go straight out to families in need.
22.01.2022 Big delivery today of nappy cream & restorative balm which will be a welcome addition to our baby toiletries packs. Thanks Megan Gale & Mindful Life for your generosity.
20.01.2022 Helen & Sally are regular volunteers in our #booknook team. During lockdown, they made and sold face masks and used the proceeds to buy craft supplies for St Kilda Mums.
20.01.2022 Those of us in Melbourne will know that it's hard to stay connected right now, particularly if you have a young baby. Did you know that Playgroup Victoria is running online playgroups for babies and toddlers? All groups are completely free and provide fun and educational activities! Further info can be found at https://www.playgroup.org.au/playgroup-at-home/
20.01.2022 Women have different hopes and fears concerning pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. These are shaped by individual experiences as well as their social and cultural background, and the care they received. Safe Motherhood For All - First Baby Campaign are seeking to find out if Australian women have the maternity care they need and want and to gain a fuller picture of Australian women’s experiences during her pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. The survey also see...ks to understand a woman’s sense of supportive relationships with health professionals and their sense of control over decisions made during birth as research has consistently shown these are two of the most important factors in ensuring positive experience in having a baby. The survey is open until 30 September 2020 for all women who have birthed in Australia in the past two years. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BirthDignitySurvey2020

07.01.2022 Dear Eliza, we want you to know that Giraffey has been safely packed into a beautiful bundle and is on it's way to another little child to be loved just as much as you. Thank you for sending your special item to us.
07.01.2022 This is the number of babies and children on our waitlist who need help before Christmas. Shocking, isn’t it? Together we can get this number down to zero before 25 December. One of the children needing help right now is a 3 year old girl who is being cared for by her grandparents. Lockdown has been a struggle in more ways than one. When asked how are you? the simple answer was we’re not going well at all right now.... The grandparents have asked for simple things. New underwear to help with toilet training, a pram so they can make the hour long walk to the shops without having to carry the 3 year old, shoes, clothing. A book and toy pack would be a bonus. As we approach the end of a very difficult year, many of you have asked what you can do to make a difference. The best way to help right now is by making a financial donation today: https://stkildamums-ourfamily.raisely.com/ Your donation will be used to support the families on our waitlist as soon as tomorrow. #fromourfamilytoyours
07.01.2022 A special treat on our final day of operations for the year - Surina & her mum stopped by with $241 she had raised by making & selling gift cards & tags through lockdown this year! She was very excited to have a quick look around our warehouse, and even spotted a backpack she had donated, packed full of books & ready for another little girl.
07.01.2022 Avni celebrated her 9th birthday recently. She knew that her mum was interested in volunteering at St Kilda Mums and she saw our list of things that are most needed for babies right now. Avni decided to request no boxed gifts for her birthday party from friends & family. Instead, with the money and vouchers she received she bought 3 cots & mattresses and dropped them off to us this week. Happy birthday Avni and thank you for sharing your celebration with three families whose babies will sleep safely because of you!
07.01.2022 A social worker sent this note today. Thanks for making this feedback possible: You have supported many of the families living in our community. Your service has generously provided them with cots which meant their babies were able to sleep safely. The prams and double prams were gratefully received as it meant the mothers were able to be more independent. All the goods have been in pristine condition and the families have been thrilled to receive them. The added extras such... as books, toys and clothes were such a bonus. It is disappointing that you do not get to see the absolute joy on the faces of the families and children when they receive theses generous gifts. Thank you St Kilda Mums for the wonderful service you offer to our communities. See more
06.01.2022 We are proud to partner with first nations agencies and corporations across Victoria. We were moved by this message from a social worker this Naidoc Week. "I would just like to offer some feedback from the parent. Mum was amazed at the resources delivered and her 3 little girls were so excited to open everything up. They put on an instant fashion show. Mum is so happy she has a car seat now. She also said the Florrie dolls are beautiful and couldn’t believe she could receive... something so special for her aboriginal children for Christmas. The family have only recently relocated due to community violence & are severely impacted financially & emotionally. The St Kilda Mums delivery brought much comfort and happiness to this family. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful support." St Kilda Mums acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands we work on. #alwayswasalwayswillbe #NAIDOCWeek2020
06.01.2022 It’s a great day for pram cleaning! If you’re thinking of donating your pram to us, please clean it first if you can. It means we can get it to a family in need quickly. Another option is to call our good friend Julia at Pram SPA who can do all the hard work for you!
06.01.2022 "I would just like to say a massive thank you to St Kilda Mums, for enabling me to offer such tangible and welcome support to my client. My client is a single parent and the support that flows through to their child, enables me to establish and maintain trust, and this opens the door to providing the family with other supports." - Anth, social worker
05.01.2022 These are just some of the items the Sandy Sew & Knit group will be sending to us this week. These ladies, many of whom are quite isolated in lockdown, continue to work away creating these crafty treasures as well as trying to stay connected & to keep their spirits up through Stage 4. Heartfelt thanks to you all. Hand made items always receive a very special response when they are received by families in a time of crisis.
05.01.2022 Our Regional Coordinator, Danielle, received an urgent delivery request last Friday afternoon for a family who had lost their home to a bush fire a week ago. Until emergency housing becomes available, 8 people will be living with the grandparents. A double pram, linen, nappies, toys & other items were packed up ready to be sent to Wangaratta today via our partner Victorian Freight Specialists, just in time for Christmas.
04.01.2022 This time of year is supposed to be a happy time. But for many families, it’s the most difficult time of all. We are closing our doors for the year soon. But we can’t yet because we’re still $15,426 short for our Christmas Appeal and have 118 babies to help before 25 December. Can you please donate today?... https://stkildamums-ourfamily.raisely.com/ A mum waiting for support is due on Saturday & she is feeling very anxious. She was forced to move house last week & her financial stress has been unbearable this year due to the pandemic. She needs a safe place to sleep for her newborn, a car seat, pram, nappies & toiletries. She also has a 2 year old who has gone without a lot of things this year like clothes, shoes, linen, toys & books. We need to act quickly so they can set everything up prior to the baby’s arrival. The best way to support this family & others on our waiting list before Christmas is to make a financial donation today. Our last urgent orders are being picked up & distributed by social workers as late as Wednesday afternoon so there is still time to help. Please donate one last time so we can ensure no child goes without this Christmas. https://stkildamums-ourfamily.raisely.com/ #fromourfamilytoyours

Our website has more info on donation options, as well as details on what we can & can't rehome - stkildamums.org Thank you!
02.01.2022 "There's only so much walking, reading and gardening you can do, so being able to sew has helped me get through lockdown. This month's work - 26 skirts, 14 playmats, 13 balls, 16 hats and 24 pairs of PJs (made the bottoms and bought the tops)" - Avril, volunteer
01.01.2022 From great community relationships grow wonderful partnerships! Our neighbours in Clayton 1800-GOT-JUNK? Australia save us a fortune in tip fees by regularly collecting all our hard waste. We love it when Ian & Peter show up and make all our junk disappear!
