25.01.2022 The Officers and members of the Brigade are super excited with the recent announcement that land has been secured for our brand new fire station! We look forward to sharing the build process and our new facility with our communities. Thanks to Lisa Neville MP for the contribution to help make the new station a reality.... https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2427252467497219&id=1394323554123454
24.01.2022 Reminder that daylight savings starts this weekend. Perfect time to check your smoke detectors when you're changing your clocks!
22.01.2022 Each year, the Brigade has proudly supported the Royal Childrens Hospital Good Friday Appeal, collecting donations with our big red truck. This year, due to the current pandemic, we are unable to collect in person But weve worked out how you can still donate ! Look out for us on the virtual tin shake and give that they may grow. https://fundraising.virtualtinshake.com/st-leonards-indente ... In case you miss us this year, weve attached some photos from previous years, which we hope is almost as good as the real thing!!
21.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is held between 27 May and 3 June each year and is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and learn about what each of us can do to support the national reconciliation effort. It's also a time to reflect on what more we can do to improve Aboriginal inclusion and respect across our organisation. Our Brigade acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land, and pays our respects to elders past, present and emerging. #InThisTogether2020
20.01.2022 The Officers and Members of the St Leonards-Indented Head Brigade are saddened to advise the recent passing of Brigade Life Member Charles (Charlie) Shaddock. Charlie was an integral member of the Brigade for over 20 years, as an operational firefighter, expert pelican rescuer, brigade member, mentor and friend to many. He was a regular face in town as the Brigade fire equipment maintenance officer, as well as undertaking fire plug inspections and maintenance. He was also... a regular attendee at Brigade and community events. Charlie will be sadly missed. Our deepest and sincerest condolences to Barbara and families. Firefighter Prayer: When I am called to duty God, Wherever flames may rage. Give me strength to save some life Whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little child Before it is too late. Or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert And hear the weakest shout. And quickly and efficiently To put the fire out I want to fill my calling And give the best in me. To guard my every neighbor And protect their property. And if according to your will I have to lose my life. Please bless with your protecting hand My Children and my wife
20.01.2022 What do you do when you need to complete pre-season training, but recent significant rain means you can't safely acces your usual water points for training? Simple - you improvise!!! Draughting is the process of accessing water from a static supply, like a dam or pool and is a vital skill for all firefighters. ... Although, getting water from a wheelie bin is a little out of the ordinary for us! In the year of Covid, you may also need to improvise how you and your family prepare for the upcoming summer fire season. Be sure to consider what the impacts may be in your planning and preparation
19.01.2022 Today, 10 September is R U OK Day. Remember to 1. Ask. 2. Listen. 3. Encourage Action. 4. Check in.... There's more to say after RUOK. https://youtu.be/erHLP29tzPE See more
18.01.2022 Officers and members of the St Leonards-Indented Head Fire Brigade would like to acknowledge the significance of 1 July 2020. It is the day where CFA continues its proud history of being a volunteer based firefighting service, and where staff and firefighters from MFB and CFAs integrated stations merge to create a new fire service, known as Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV). The communities of St Leonards and Indented Head will continue to be supported by our CFA volunteer members ...in response to fires and other emergencies, and we will continue to work alongside FRV and other agencies, to keep our communities safe. We wish acknowledge the proud history of both MFB and CFA and look forward to the shared journey ahead - where our communities are, and always will be our highest priority. #WeWorkAsOne https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erZvIAis-6Y&t=8s

09.01.2022 Shout out to our fellow volunteers in orange! #WeWorkAsOne
08.01.2022 The Brigade has responded to 2 calls this week due to the activation of smoke alarms. In both cases, it was discovered that they were beeping because they had flat batteries! Its incredibly important that your home has smoke alarms installed its even better when they are checked and maintained! So, if youre looking for something to do whilst you #stayhome during #lockdown2020, why not check your smoke alarms? Test them, change the batteries or replace them if they have reached the end of their lifespan. Keep yourselves and your family safe!
07.01.2022 Our members have been busy getting ready for the summer fire season. Today we were completing our annual practical training requirements, all while keeping covid safe, of course! We're preparing for summer - how about you?

04.01.2022 It's nearing the end of National Volunteer Week (18-24 May 2020) Shout out to all volunteers, in all organisations, for all that you do. Big thanks to our Brigade volunteers, who all do their bit in keeping our communities safe. If you haven't already, please take a moment to thank a volunteer - or even better, become one!!
04.01.2022 May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia, or IDAHOBIT (because we love a good acronym at CFA!) Recognising this day is one of the many ways we can do our part to stand up against discrimination, and demonstrate our commitment to being an inclusive and welcoming Brigade. We celebrate the diversity of our membership and our community and the value that everyone brings.... To find out how you can 'get your rainbow on' for IDAHOBIT, check out their webpage: https://www.idahobit.org.au/

02.01.2022 At a recent meeting of the Brigade, we were able to recognise some of our members who have gained new skills by completing accredited training over the last few years. This training is in addition to the normal commitment at the Brigade to obtain and maintain skills, so well done to everyone for their time and effort. Captain Niki Habibis was very happy to present members with their training certificates to celebrate the achievements.
02.01.2022 We have recently been lucky enough to receive a cheque from St Leonards IGA as a part of their Community Chest program. This generous donation helps us to purchase and update the equipment we use to keep our community safe. Please continue to support the fantastic community chest program by shopping locally at St Leonards IGA. Treasurer Sean McClea gratefully accepted the cheque on behalf of the Brigade from Karen from IGA - who just loves having her photo taken with our firefighters!!
02.01.2022 Like many others, the Brigade has had to rethink how we operate so we can continue to provide our service to the community, whilst taking every precaution to prevent the exposure and spread of the virus. In these strange and uncertain times, our Brigade Officers have been working hard to put arrangements in place, so that we can continue to respond to emergency calls when you need us, as safely as possible. We may not be as visible in the community, through training, fundr...aising and community engagement, but we are still here. Remember, we are here for you, please stay home for us (and be sure to stay fire safe while youre there!! ) In the meantime, here are some tips for boredom busters to keep safe. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1053735208341794&id=100011159736382
01.01.2022 On Wednesday 29th April 2020 at 5:40pm, our Brigade will join other Brigades across the State in sounding our Station Siren (four times) as mark of respect to the four Victorian Police Officers who tragically lost their lives last week. There is no reason to be concerned or alarmed, should you hear the Brigade siren sounding tomorrow at 5.40pm. We ask that when you hear the siren, please pause with us as a sign of respect for Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Constabl...e Glen Humphris, Senior Constable Kevin King and Constable Josh Prestney. #emergencyservicesfamily #victoriapolica #cfa See more
