18.05.2022 Yesterday, our youngest St Margaret's students set off on an exciting adventure to Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre. While there, the Pre-Preps were given the opportunity to engage in a wonderful array of experiences helping to further develop their relationships with nature and increase their awareness of indigenous culture, perspectives the students have been exploring during their weekly outdoor classroom days. For this particular excursion it was the dads and special male figures turn to volunteer as helpers, sharing the joy of this experience through our young learners eyes.

05.05.2022 Congratulations to Principal Ms Ros Curtis who has been named among Australia’s Most Influential Educators of 2022 by The Educator. This outstanding recognition comes just a day after Ms Curtis was named as a finalist in the School Principal of the Year (non-government) category in the prestigious Australian Education Awards along with St Margaret’s being named a finalist in three award categories. It is most deserved recognition for Ms Curtis whose leadership is making a meaningful impact to the students and staff at St Margaret’s as well as the wider education community.

22.04.2022 #throwbackTuesday During National Boarding Week it seems only fitting we throwback 127 years ago to where it all started. In 1895, the first three students enrolled at St Margaret's were in fact boarders! Since then, a lot of things have changed... like the dorms for one... and a lot of things have stayed the same... such as the hotly anticipated mail which these days consists of care packages from home and a little online shopping from time to time. #nationalboardingweek2022 #127yearsofboarding

16.04.2022 The prestigious Australian Education Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the country’s top performing schools. We’re thrilled to announce that St Margaret’s has this year been named a finalist (also known as excellence awardee) in the following categories: School Principal of the Year (non-government), Secondary School of the Year (non-government), Boarding School of the Year and Best Remote Learning Program. The winners will be announced on Friday 12 August.

24.01.2022 These girls totally rocked the chop! Congratulations to Alex Lannon & Lucy Howard for being the top fundraisers for this year’s Ponytail Project collectively raising over $6,000 for Cancer Council Australia. To keep their new do’s in pristine condition, they both won a Semi Di Lino pack courtesy of Mark Byrne from Alfaparf Milano who had generously supported this year’s project by cutting the girls' hair.

23.01.2022 Final day celebrations - the students of St Margaret’s had a truly festive day today with the Christmas Eucharist and Christmas Choral Interhouse Competition, a great way to finish an unusual year. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday, see you in 2021!

23.01.2022 Please note the parent information evening for global exchange next year is not going ahead tonight.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to our very own Head of Boarding, Lesa Fowler, for winning the 2020 ABSA Premier Leadership Award. Lesa was presented with this national award on assembly today by Richard Stokes - the CEO of the Australian Boarding Schools Association. Richard told the assembly that out of over 200 boarding schools in Australia, who employ around 4000 boarding staff, to care for 23,000 boarders, it was nice for us to know that our Head of Boarding is one of the best. We second that!

Congratulations to our friends at St Stephen's College for taking out this category. #AudEdAwards

08.01.2022 Happy World Teachers Day! This morning we are hosting a breakfast to thank and acknowledge all our wonderful teachers and those who support them. Apart from a delicious breakfast, everyone received a small token of the school’s appreciation in the form of a notebook (celebrating our 125th anniversary) and a coffee voucher to Ms Café, which we suspect will do a roaring trade in the days to come! It's been a challenging year for all and all school staff have really shown their dedication to the ongoing delivery of a high-quality education to our students and their wellbeing. #worldteachersday2020

08.01.2022 Swapping Canberra for Cairns because of COVID has given the Year 6s a very different but no less exciting and educational camp. Here they are meeting the locals in the Daintree, walking along the beach at Cape Tribulation and taking in the view where the forest meets the sea.

02.01.2022 How appropriate that in #NAIDOCWeek2020, the Indigenous Writes project that produced the collection of stories "Gidhal", giving voice to our First Nations' people here at St Margaret's and launched last week, has been awarded a 2020 Innovation Award from the 'The Educator' magazine. This is our third innovation award, having previously been recognised for our Academic Advising and St Margaret's Plus programs. Congratulations to all involved in this truly memorable project. 01.01.2022 National NAIDOC Week is to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. National NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. This is a great opportunity for the students to participate in, to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls here at St Margaret’s. In the Boarding House, the students came together to teach a song and dance from the Torres Strait Islands to our Primary students. Sharing their culture to our community is so very rewarding, the song has been passed over from generations. Singing and dancing with great pride, the students celebrate NAIDOC with so much joy to share with all.
