24.01.2022 Today our senior girls were challenged to think about their own leadership empowerment. Dr Middleton introduced the girls to the work of the great philosopher Marcus Aurelius after which the girls focused on their own footprints and the affirmative steps they can take as leaders of our school.
24.01.2022 If you are looking for an activity on a Friday lunchtime when we are back on campus, why not try the Dungeons and Dragons Club at the Senior Boys Campus? This is attracting boys from a wide variety of year levels and is led by Callum and Joel in Year 12. What a great way to use the power of your imaginations!
23.01.2022 Year 7 students had a terrific time today, working on a science catapult design experiment with pre-service teacher Miss Dunwoody from Melbourne University.
23.01.2022 What a wonderful way to end their week! In Year 7 Music, students are learning to play duets on the piano/keyboard. Using the familiar ‘Ice Cream Chords’ harmony and several songs that fit with this chord structure, students develop a duet to play including both harmony and melody parts and incorporating some improvisation an activity that can be adapted to students at any level of piano proficiency. Vienna Thornton and Sandrine Nugara are well on their way to an entertaining performance!

22.01.2022 Leading VCE Results 2020 was a year where the words 'pivot' and 'resilience' entered our everyday vernacular and nowhere was it practiced more than by our VCE students who showed their true character. In partnership and with the support of their dedicated teachers, they learnt more about themselves as learners, rising to challenges of new normal, displaying our values of Courage, Curiosity, Character and Respect. ... We acknowledge the outstanding results and achievements of our duxes: For Senior Girls Annie Wu who achieved an ATAR of 99.80 For Senior Boys Oliver Ward who achieved an ATAR of 98.15 Of our Senior Girls 36% achieved an ATAR over 95 and 52% an ATAR above 90, placing them in the top 5% and 10% of the nation respectively. Of our Senior Boys 27% achieved an ATAR over 90 and 48% an ATAR above 85, placing them in the top 10% and 15% of the nation respectively. 4 perfect scores of 50 were attained in Applied Computing: Data Analytics, English, Further Maths and Health and Human Development. We are proud of all our students and look forward to following the trajectories they take in life, with the same care and concern we felt for them at school. 20.01.2022 The year 8's study of science culminated in a dissection of a rat. I was so proud of these girls as they put aside their inhibitions to totally embrace this opportunity to view the organs of another mammal and relate those structures to those within their own bodies. Well done ladies!

17.01.2022 In another new experience for Transitions Week, boys tried Yoga to begin their day - and were surprised by how challenging it was! Yoga can be a great transition as it warms the body up for the day, and can often require so much focus that we enter a state of "flow". The final survey at the end of the week will show if the boys like Yoga as a way to start their day!
17.01.2022 STEM activities kept our Year 4 students engaged and active today. With design briefs in hand, they enjoyed the hands-on aspect of the process.

12.01.2022 This week some of our Year 5 and 6 students took the opportunity at lunchtime to link up with Year 6 students from Firbank Grammar (Sandringham House) to view their live virtual PYP Exhibition presentations via Microsoft Teams. It was great to see our students actively involved in listening, asking questions and providing wonderful feedback to their PYP peers, and again showed the value of belonging to and engaging with the PYP community as an IB World School. Here is a copy of the message we received from Firbank afterwards: ‘Thanks again Melissa. All our kids are raving about how wonderful your students were as an audience. Please make sure you congratulate them on that.'

05.01.2022 Yesterday marked a special and nostalgic morning for senior school students, as weekly House meetings commenced face-to-face again. House captains introduced a new challenge for all mentor groups, to design and plan their mentors name and logo. Mentor group F, creatively named themselves ‘the Gipson Fire Fries’ and designed a very well thought out logo to represent themselves. Great work girls.
02.01.2022 Despite the challenges and restrictions COVID meant for us, the Berwick Grammar boys have still managed to win two SIS pennants. Here are some of the members of the SIS Chess Team celebrating their win, and the four members of the Debating Team who took our the top level debating trophy. What a wonderful triumph for Year 12 students Max Walton-Briggs and Oliver Ward, and with two more years of debating ahead, what a great achievement for Ovin Jayawardana and Sebastian Nugara of Year 10.
