24.01.2022 You are warmly invited to celebrate Jesus with us this Christmas, at any of our Christmas services. We have a family carols service at 5pm on Christmas Eve, then a late Christmas Communion service at 10:30pm. We also have a Christmas Day service the following day at 9am. Hope to see you there!

23.01.2022 For the last month or so we have been learning from the book of Acts at church. We havent finished the book yet (although feel free to read it yourself anyway!). However, we will be taking a break from Acts, and will be looking at the book of Matthew for the next month or so. Tomorrow well be hearing how Jesus tells us to be great, in Matthew chapter 20. Hint hint, the answer is pretty unexpected! Please let us know through this Facebook page (or by contacting Ann Dixon), if you would like to come to church, so we can keep a seat free for you.

23.01.2022 Happy New Year! Today, as always, we can "Rejoice in the Lord" (Philippians 4) for God is very good to us. We have a new meal plan for the 4pm service shared meals throughout 2020 (see attached). There are also hard copies available that you can pick up at church. May this year be one where we all continue to grow in our relationship with God, learning to trust and love him more and more.

22.01.2022 Can you believe that it is the last day of September already? Tomorrow is the first day of October, or as it has been referred to, "Occtober". October is the collection month for the shoeboxes for the project Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a project organised by Samaritan's Purse. On their website they state that "Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for you to bless children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygie...ne items, school supplies, and fun gifts. We collect the boxes and distribute them in the name of Jesus Christ to children living in vulnerable situations." So if you have brought home a shoebox to fill for OCC, please finish organising the things you wish to put inside it, and return it to church by Sunday 18th October. https://samaritanspurse.org.au/w/operation-christmas-child/

22.01.2022 We had a fun afternoon at Kids Club yesterday where we learned about David facing the giant Goliath. With the help of our tallest person and smallest person we were able to act out (with some variations!) the battle scene. We discussed that David won because of God's power and not just his own skill. What faith he had in God though! We can have a relationship with the same powerful and caring God today, and trust him just like David did.

22.01.2022 Hi everyone, I hope you have had a wonderful day. If you havent managed to watch either our 9am or 4pm service yet, they are available for you to watch at any time. The link can be accessed from our website: www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au This coming Tuesday 19th May, there is a great opportunity for encouragement in your faith, by joining the Church Mission Society (CMS) dinner, from the comfort of your very own home. You can even come to the dinner in your PJs and dressin...g gown! Simply click on the link of their website below by 7pm. There are 8 gospel workers from around the world who will be joining in a live Q&A, with the theme of Restorative Hope, which is especially meaningful right now in the midst of the Covid-19. Please let us know if you are having trouble connecting. Hope you are able to join in. https://www.cms.org.au/event/cms-dinner/?branch=sant

22.01.2022 Good morning! With the need to self-isolate as much as possible, it's great that there have been a number of online resources made available. Colin is doing a live concert at 4:30pm Adelaide time this afternoon. You can check his Facebook page for more information. We're planning to watch, and would love for you to 'join' us too! 20.01.2022 Hello! For those who dont receive the St Marks emails, we are continuing to have our weekly services available on our website, which you can watch at any time. It was great to celebrate Pentecost, the birthday of the worldwide church, on the weekend. It is an immense privilege and joy to have God the Holy Spirit living inside all believers! Thank you God. We are planning to resume on-site services as of this coming Sunday 7th June, with maximum 20 people at each service ...as per state guidelines. The services will be held at 8:30am and 10:30am. You will need to book a seat beforehand, so we know how many people will be coming, and so we dont need to turn people away at the door. Details of how to do this are on our website. If you choose not to come to an on-site service, you will still be able to watch our online services. The services will look different to pre-Covid-19, as we will be practicing social distancing, and not having Communion / morning tea. However, it will still be wonderful to be together and praising our God for his ever present love and care. Whether we see you in person next weekend, or continue to be in touch online, we hope that the coming week is one where you continue in close fellowship with God and with other believers, and experience the love that God shows us. www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au

20.01.2022 Good morning! You will find this weeks online worship service on our church website. Visit www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au where you will find a link to the service. If you have any particular needs or concerns at this time, please dont hesitate to contact me or one of the wardens and we will do our best to assist you. 20.01.2022 Not sure what to do this morning? Why not come along to our Book Sale? We haven't held a book sale since March, and we have so many books to sell! The book sale will be held from 9am - 12pm, and we also have some scones / tea / coffee available. Hope to see you there.

18.01.2022 Tomorrow afternoon we have Junior Youth, from 3:30 - 5pm. Keeping in line with our chocolate theme, tomorrow we will be looking at what to do when life begins to crumble (Violet Crumble). Children from grades 4-8 are most welcome to come along.

18.01.2022 Good morning! As always, it is good to remember that this is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24). Today we have a combined service at 10:30, as we celebrate that Jesus is indeed the King of the whole world. What a joy it is to serve and live under such a kind, wise and loving King. The service will be followed by a BBQ lunch.... Many of us will also be going to Christmas on the Hill this afternoon, from 5pm - 9pm at the Wynn Vale Oval. This is a family friendly event with assorted entertainment, including carols and fireworks at the end. https://kingsbaptist.org.au/connect/christmas-on-the-hill

18.01.2022 How has everyones week been? Busier than normal? Quieter than normal? Whatever it has been like, it probably hasnt been normal. We havent had normal for a while, have we. We are into April already, and we will be celebrating Easter Day next weekend. No matter what events are happening throughout the world, nothing changes the fact that Jesus came to earth, that he died a death he didnt deserve, and that he defeated death and rose again. We can be reconciled with God ...through what Jesus did for us. We would love for you to worship with us as members of St Marks. Even though we cant gather in person, we are still members of Gods family together. We have our 4pm service starting shortly, or our usual 9am services. Please refer to our website for more details and the link to the service on YouTube... www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au

18.01.2022 Tomorrow is Kids Club day again! We'd love to welcome any children from Kindy age through to grade 4 at school. It's held at church from 3:30 - 5pm, and is $2 per child. Tomorrow we'll be looking at how powerful words are. It has been said that 'the pen is mightier than the sword'. God has much wisdom in the book of James about the power of our spoken words. Hope to see you there!

17.01.2022 Good morning! As you may be aware, our face to face services are up and running again. We hold a service at 9am and 4pm each Sunday. It is so wonderful to see each other in person again! Due to COVID-19 requirements, these services are capped at 50 people each, so we need to know who is coming, to make sure that no-one needs to be turned away at the door. If you would like to come along, please contact Ann Dixon by 5pm on Saturday, or you could send a message through this Fa...cebook page. At the services we are ensuring that we sanitise as we arrive and leave, as well as carrying out social distancing and other COVID-19 requirements. At this stage we are still recording our morning service, and putting it up online later on Sunday (or occasionally Monday morning). You can access these services at www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au Thank you, and God bless you.

15.01.2022 The end is near... The end of the year, that is! The 4pm congregation will be sharing dinner together this coming Sunday, after the service, for the final time this year. The theme, very appropriately, is Party Food. We are preparing to celebrate the birth of someone immensely important to everyone throughout the world - Jesus. Please bring a plate of food and come along, we'd love for you to join us.

15.01.2022 Good morning! We are looking forward to worshipping our great God together this morning. Last week we started looking at Lamentations, and will continue doing so today. You can view today's services on the St Mark's website www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au If you're able to join us on Zoom either at around 10:30am or 5pm, then we would love to see you. Don't forget that you can call into zoom from a landline phone - details are on the website.

15.01.2022 Psalm 46 is a great psalm to remind us of Gods strength and power. Though the future is always uncertain, even in the best of times, there is nothing beyond Gods control. God knows us and cares for us :) "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/

14.01.2022 Good morning! It is indeed a Good Friday, but not because of the way our precious Lord Jesus was treated. Rather, what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross is indeed Good. Taking the punishment that our sins deserved, and opening up the way for us to be in a relationship with God. We would love for you to join us today with our online Good Friday service. It can be accessed through our website. May today be a blessed day for you, where Jesus' love for us all is made even clearer. https://www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au/online

13.01.2022 Yesterday at church we read through 1 Timothy chapter 4, a great chapter where the author Paul teaches the importance of living a godly life. He writes in verse 8 to, "Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." This is a challenge for all Christians, whether we have known God for 1 week or 50 years. Praise God that he has not left us alone in this.... His Holy Spirit dwells with us and in us, and helps us to become more like God. And like muscles in our body, the more we practice self control / patience / love / kind words, the stronger we will get at doing those things again and again. At our 4pm service we watched a video clip of a song written by Colin Buchanan, called Practice Being Godly. It is well worth another watch. See the clip below https://www.youtube.com/watch

13.01.2022 Good afternoon! As you may have heard at church last week or this morning, St Marks are participating in an anonymous survey that takes place every 5 years in churches around Australia. It provides really helpful information about our particular church, as well as wider trends in Adelaide and beyond. Survey forms are due back next Sunday (1st March). They can also be completed online at http://surveys.ncls.org.au - contact us or see the church notice sheet for the code.

13.01.2022 Isn't modern technology (largely) wonderful! If you haven't been able to make it to church, never fear. We continue to record our morning service each week, and these are available on our church website. While church is indeed the people in God's family and not the building in which we meet, it is still very helpful for our relationship with God to watch an online service. We can pray to God and worship him, hear some of his Word read out, be reminded of solid truths from th...e Bible, and gain encouragement to persevere and grow in our faith. And thanks to modern technology, even if you can't see all the other people in your church family when you watch an online service, you can just pick up the phone and call them / Twitter / SMS / email / etc. Or even better, pray for them! Service links can be accessed below... https://www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au/online

12.01.2022 It was great to be back at Kids Club again on Thursday afternoon this week. What joy to see the children again, and to continue our Christian journeys together. This week we learned about Psalm 23, written by David. This well known Psalm has amazing words. We challenged the kids to see how much of it they can memorise by the end of the term. We also made some sheep, because Jesus is our shepherd and we are his sheep. Baaa!

12.01.2022 What a lovely refreshing cool change and showers of rain last night. All good things come from God! Tomorrow (Sunday) the 4pm service will be having a shared dinner together. This month's theme is Taco Bar. My children have been looking forward to this one all year! Please bring along something to share, as we enjoy each other's company over a meal.

12.01.2022 Tomorrow we have our first Junior Youth group gathering for the year. It will be a great term looking at the Armour of God - how it is that God's people prepare for life. Young people in grades 5-8 at school are most welcome to come along. See the attached flyer for more details :)

09.01.2022 Dear Church Family, The Online worship service is now available on our church website. Visit www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au to see the link. This online worship service should function on phones and tablets as well as desktop computers, however we are still learning the technology. We apologise if you have any problems, and encourage you to give us constructive feedback (with as much information as possible) either via email or through the website. ... Some people have had problems with the audio not playing when using full screen mode, so we suggest not using full screen at this time. If the audio does stop prematurely on a slide, please navigate back one slide then go forward again and the audio should play properly. Once again, please be assured of my prayers for all of you as we navigate this unfamiliar territory. Fortunately, Jesus is the light of the world and he will guide and lead us where he wants us to go. Yours in the love of Christ, Mark

08.01.2022 Happy Easter! Christ is Risen! We celebrate together that Jesus is indeed alive, and that 2000 years ago, death couldn't contain him. If you haven't yet watched our Easter service, there is a link on the St Mark's website. May you have a blessed day knowing that Jesus loves us, that he lives for us, and that all Christians have a sure and certain hope of eternal life in heaven with our heavenly Father.

08.01.2022 This Sunday is the first Sunday in February, and the 4pm service will be having dinner together. The theme for this month is Bite Sized Food (i.e. finger food). We hope you will be able to join us, both for church and also for dinner afterwards. Throughout January each year we focus on a different Christian person each week. This coming Sunday we will be learning about someone called Monica - the prayerful and faith-filled mother of... wait and see!

08.01.2022 Were very pleased to let you know that we will be starting up Kids Club again this coming term! The leadership team have met together to think through how to ensure the safety of everyone present. We will have Covid-19 safety precautions in place, and will be encouraging social distancing and regular hand sanitation. Kids Club is for children in Reception through to Grade 4 at school. Each fortnight we spend time playing games, eating afternoon tea, making some craft, getting to know each other, and most importantly getting to know our amazing God better. Please see the flyer for more information. This term our focus will be on a man called David. Its a great name that is pretty popular. We are looking forward to learning more about David in the Bible who made the name so popular!

08.01.2022 Term 4 is almost upon us, and we have an exciting new Kids Club program ready to get going. This term at Kids Club we will be looking at the book of James. This short book in the New Testament is full of practical wisdom for Christians. The program for the term is attached to this post. In Term 4 each year we invite the Kindy children to join us. We look forward to welcoming our youngest members!

08.01.2022 On the weekend at church we looked at Acts 23, and how God is always with us and working for us, even if we're not aware of it. How reassuring! We have such a powerful God who cares for us so deeply. May you be aware of his love, power, and presence, both this week and always.

07.01.2022 We're very pleased to let you know that we will be starting up Kids Club again this coming term! 07.01.2022 Hi everyone, what a week it has been! In fact, it feels like a month has passed in the last 7 days alone. 2020 has been a hard year for many reasons. At St Mark's we would love to encourage all believers to cling to God in the midst of all these current uncertainties. Jesus told his followers to "come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest". (Matthew 11:28). We can surely depend on God, who holds the future in the palm of his hand, and who cares ...for us very deeply. Mark has written a letter, summarising the changes that are taking place at St Mark's in response to the Coronavirus. Please log on to our website to read through it. We won't be holding our Sunday services in the usual way for a while, but we still very much want to stay connected with each other See www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au to read through his letter. Thanks, and keep in touch!

06.01.2022 Good morning! With the need to self-isolate as much as possible, its great that there have been a number of online resources made available. 06.01.2022 We had a great time last Thursday at Junior Youth, learning about how God made the Milky Way (as well as everything else in the universe, big and small!) The Bible tells us in Isaiah 40:26 that he knows the stars by name. That is a lot of names. We also watched this Youtube video of the song Indescribable. It is well worth a watch. And yes, each person got to bring home 2 Milky Way chocolate bars too :) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fgen24eKiM

05.01.2022 We're pleased that we can provide an update about the piles of dirt at the front of the church. For those of you who haven't drive past this week, the piles have been smoothed out! It looks great, and there is much more easy access parking available now. We're very grateful for those who organised it to happen

05.01.2022 Hi everyone, you may have seen an email yesterday to say that due to the contagious nature of the Corona Virus, we'll not be having Kids Club for the rest of this term. Although God says it is good and important for Christian to meet together, we also need to care for each other and be wise. Hopefully we can resume before too long!

05.01.2022 We had a very helpful time at church on the weekend, learning about faith from the life of Nick Vujicic. He is a man who has had many challenges, yet has learned through these about trusting God, even when (and especially when) we don't know the answers. There is a written copy of the sermon on our website, www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au We also watched excerpts from this video:... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJ1OEi2OhSU&feature=youtu.be See more

05.01.2022 Heres a great article from Youthworks, with encouragement for parents to use this time during Covid-19, to prioritise time praying with our children and reading the Bible with them. https://youthworks.net//3-ideas-to-help-your-church-unlock

05.01.2022 Good morning! You will find this week's online worship service on our church website. Visit www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au where you will find a link to the service. 04.01.2022 Hi everyone, just a reminder that we have our 4pm shared dinner this coming Sunday 1st March (can you believe it will be the start of Autumn already!). The theme for this month is Sensational Salads. Hope you can come for the service and the shared meal afterwards.

04.01.2022 Hi everyone, in case you'd like to join us at 4pm for our contemporary service, there is a link on the website... www.stmarksgoldengrove.org.au There are also some children's resources you can print out for your kids to do. 04.01.2022 Kids Club is back again! Tomorrow afternoon (Thursday) we'll be meeting again, for the first time this year. Any child in year Reception - year 4 are most welcome to come. This term we'll be having fun with a Rock theme (the hard stuff on the ground, not the music style!). Please see the attached flyer for more details.

04.01.2022 Psalm 46 is a great psalm to remind us of God's strength and power. Though the future is always uncertain, even in the best of times, there is nothing beyond God's control. 03.01.2022 Many of you will have heard the news that was announced yesterday at church. After being at Golden Grove for over 7 years, God has called Mark and Fiona and their family to minister to people in Port Pirie. Mark accepted the position of Parish Priest of Flinders Plain and Dean of the Cathedral Church of Sts. Peter & Paul in the Diocese of Willochra. This means that Mark and Fiona and their family will be moving to Port Pirie in January next year. Please be in prayer for them as they prepare to move and enter the next phase of their ministry, and please also be in prayer for St Mark's and whoever God will call to minister among this church.

03.01.2022 We are starting a new teaching series at church - the book of 1 Timothy, a letter written from the apostle Paul to Timothy. We'll begin tomorrow by looking at chapter 1. Paul has a great way of explaining the love and mercy that God showed him. It is so reassuring that the same mercy God showed to Paul is also freely available to us. We hope you can make it to either our 9am service or the 4pm service. Let us know if you're planning to come (for Covid-safe requirements) if you haven't done so already.

03.01.2022 Hi all, just a reminder that Kids Club is on tomorrow for the final time this year. How fast has this year gone!
