18.01.2022 Years 5 and 6 have had a truly egg-citing egg-sperience this week diving into the Deep Blue of National Science Week. Not only was it loads of fun, but we learnt so much about the acidification of our oceans. We discovered that carbon dioxide in the atmosphere forms carbonic acid in our oceans and this leads to the destruction of coral, shells and marine life. We simulated this awful situation by soaking eggs in vinegar to dissolve their shells and then conducted a fair test on the effects of Osmosis which significantly increased or decreased the size of our eggs by leaving overnight in water or salt. We now have a much greater understanding of the urgent need to decrease our carbon dioxide emissions!

15.01.2022 Did you know that growing your own food can benefit the planet? Year 2 contributed to a healthier planet by planting their own lettuce seeds. Marina Qutab suggests the easiest way to imagine how growing your own food reduces your carbon footprint, is to think of food production and distribution in terms of an empty jar. The fuller the jar is, the greater the environmental impact as there are more components involved in producing your food and bringing your food to your plate.... We can't wait to taste your crunchy lettuce!!
