18.01.2022 At St. Martins our Holy Communion Services swap between the two main services in the LHS p. 6 (The Service with Communion) and p. 58 (The ServiceThe Alternative). I have had several people let me know they are not as familiar with the Alternative service growing up (and I certainly dont blame them, remembering this Alternative service only came out in 1987 in the Supplement!). Hence I have put together a tutorial for all of our members to help teach us so that we might lea...rn this lesser known form of Service together as a Church. I find it melodically quite beautiful. If you have questions please ask. Details: This is a tutorial on how to chant the Holy Communion order titled, "The ServiceAlternative Form" as found on p. 58 in the Lutheran Hymnal Supplement (LHS). It is primarily to help LCA members familiarise themselves with this order of service but is perfect for pastoral students, lay worship leaders and for private home worship. This order of service was put out for trial use in the LCA by its 1984 synodical convention. It was formally published in 1987 in the Supplement which is an additional resource with the Lutheran Hymnal (1973). This video is only the chanted parts of the liturgy, not any of the spoken parts. I have chosen the B options for the Gloria, A option for the Epistle reading, B option for the offertory, and I have chanted the preface in the liturgy of Holy Communion (Epiphany) using The Lutheran Book of Worship: Ministers Desk Edition (1978, p. 210) or as I refer to the as the Brown Hymnal. 12.01.2022 Today at St. Martins Lutheran Church in Gladstone we welcomed our newest member into Gods church as we baptised Hailee Alexis Rose, daughter of Joshua and Jackalyn Rose and was sponsored by Elizabeth Martin. We thank God for this wonderful gift of forgiveness of sins, life and salvation for Hailee and all who are baptised. Welcome into Gods family Hailee! ... Let us be reminded of what God gives in baptism through Luthers Small Catechism. What gifts or benefits does baptism grant? Answer: It brings about forgiveness of sins, redeems from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe it, as the words and promise of God declare. [78] What are these words and promise of God? Answer: Where our Lord Christ says in Mark 16[:16*], Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be damned. And also: 1 Peter 3:21 (ESV): Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

10.01.2022 Today we said farewell to St. Martins members, the Mowambopo family, Albert, Grace, Aaron and their little baby girl on the way. It was such a joy to hear some stories of how they have blessed our church through friendships and fellowship through our Lord Jesus Christ. We thank God for you four and commit you to Gods grace and care as you go to Adelaide for Alberts work. We love you all very much and will keep you in our prayers for safe travels and that you settle into a new Church family when you arrive. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you now and always. Amen.
