25.01.2022 Congratulations Chevalier in winning today’s war cries!

24.01.2022 This week we showcase one of our beautiful Reception classes - RPJ! RPJ found a map! How did we know it was a map? What makes maps special? What are maps for? We decided we could make maps of our school. We are cartographers! After exploring maps and our school, we designed our own St Martins maps. We are developing our spacial concepts and learning to represent objects and places in our world.

21.01.2022 At Catholic Education South Australia, we value the intrinsic worth of every individual. We dont just know students by name, we know who they are by heart. Through our commitment to educational excellence, we provide quality learning in a Catholic context, from early years to year 12. Our community is underpinned by a spirit of openness, sensitivity and respect, which generates a real sense of inclusion and belonging. Its these everyday connections between faith and action ...that let every child know they matter. We work in partnership with families to educate and nurture the whole person, helping them to be thriving, capable learners as well as extraordinary human beings. Inspired by Jesus, our Catholic faith and spirituality, we instil values that last well beyond the schooling experience, theyre ingrained for life. We believe that each child has an inherent goodness that can change the world and its our privilege to be a part of their journey because an intangible piece of your school lives with you forever. 06.01.2022 Finishing the term off with our final Reception Class - RD sharing the amazing work they have been doing this term! The introduction of STEM has created a buzz in RD! STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Our little learners have been exploring how things move! We have been working with our buddies in 6RK to explore the introduction to Bee-Bots. They are small robots that can introduce st...udents to coding and computational thinking. The Bee-Bot can remember a sequence of up to 40 commands, directing it to move a variety of ways like forwards, backwards, turn left or right at 90 degrees. The children have explored using the directional, Go, Pause and Delete buttons. They just love watching the Bee-Bot beep and blink after each command and counting its movement. RD have had so much fun developing their problem-solving skills and collaborating by sharing, taking turns and communicating lots of directional language. Many thanks to our buddies for taking the time to teach our class how to use the robots. What great teamwork! See more

04.01.2022 Today we showcase another of our beautiful Reception classes - RV! RV have been exploring our emotions and read the book When I feel loved by Trace Moroney. We noticed that the people who made us feel loved were our families! The students drew pictures of their families to make a family tree and started to notice that they were all different! We discovered that there are lots of types of families, some people had different names for people in their family, some people live... in different places, some people have come from different countries, some families are different sizes and shapes and everyone looks different! We are learning that its ok for everyone to be different and its important to be accepting of all. Acceptance is one of the St. Martins values! See more

03.01.2022 Today we showcase another of our beautiful Reception classes - RT! We have had a wonderful start to the 2020 school year in RT. We have discussed how we have many emotions and how our faces can sometimes show the emotion that we are feeling. The students excitedly explored with loose parts and made their own emoji faces. As a class we discussed the different zones of regulation and how our bodies feel when we are scared, excited, sad and happy. The students have been active a...nd engaged learners across all curriculum areas. We are enjoying our lessons in Maths and every day in RT we are Mathematicians. We are beginning to develop our understanding that Maths is all around us and we have been busy working on our problem solving and reasoning skills. This week we have enjoyed working with patterns and searching for natural and man-made patterns in the world around us, in creating and describing patterns using sounds and movement and creating patterns with objects.
