01.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK 2020 ACTION This week there was plenty of action, experiments, displays and colour as we marked Science Week 2020 at St Marys. Our Year 7 girls got creative using chemical sprays to make coloured flames, using the same chemical elements in fireworks used to create firework displays. Both the Year 7 girls and teachers had fun investigating the use of detergent to create forces of attraction between water particles, in order to make bigger bubbles and even cool...er shapes! Those girls who have always wanted to fly a drone got their chance todaybut underwater! They used the Schools FiFish underwater remote operated drone to navigate an obstacle course in the pooland gave the underwater drone quite the workout. The Kindy girls were excited by experiments each day. Their favourite was watching the reaction when detergent was added to drops of colour in a plate of milk. They also loved adding coloured vinegar to a plate of bicarbonate of soda. Its exploding! they exclaimed! #stmarys #discoveringherbest #scienceweek2020 #girlsinstem
