25.01.2022 On Tuesday we welcomed our Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 children back to school. The Junior class and staff were so excited and happy to be together again. The smiles say it all. We cannot wait until the Seniors join us and our whole school of St. Mary's can be together as one.
24.01.2022 To begin the season of Lent the students worked together to make pancakes in recognizing Shrove Tuesday. Ash Wednesday is where many Christians across the world, engage in prayer and reflection. Today we came together in prayer and pondered our Lenten Promises. In standing in solidarity with the world’s poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold the dignity of others, we can go further together.
23.01.2022 Good morning to all of parents and carers that have begun their new job this week as teachers. As we move into a full week of learning next week, you may have many questions and concerns about how you can manage the challenges ahead. Try to find a bit of downtime this weekend to listen to this podcast as it provides some very practical hints that may help you and your family. The link is at the bottom of the page.
22.01.2022 At St. Mary’s we have been focusing on staying positive and being grateful in these uncertain times. Last week the senior class spent time thinking of the people we are grateful to, who continue to work to keep us healthy and safe during this pandemic. The senior students took some time to write letters of thanks to the staff at Ballarat Health Services and Ambulance Victoria. The staff at the Base Hospital were thrilled to receive the letters and thanked us for our thoughtful and kind wishes.
20.01.2022 Here we go again! Tomorrow we return to learning from home and together we know we can do this. While it is not probably what we all wanted, we know we have done it once and survived and we can do it again. Thank you to our amazing staff that have worked extremely hard over the past few days to have everything ready to go for the next two days and the weeks ahead. Thank you to our parents for the positive and calm way they have accepted that this as what we need to do, even t...hough we know there will be challenges ahead. And of course, thank you to our special children that have taken the decision in their stride and are getting ready to do round two of home learning. Take care everyone! We know we can do this because we have awesome school communities that support and look after each other in good times and on those days that are a bit tough. Stay safe and take care. We've got this!! See more
14.01.2022 Every year at St. Mary's we take the opportunity to celebrate our Mothers and all of the special women in our lives. However, in 2020 things are a bit different. We didn't want to miss the opportunity to recognise our Mums and give thanks for all they do, so this year we prepared a little something for them. Happy Mothers Day.
11.01.2022 Last week the paramedics at Ambulance Victoria received our letters of thanks. They were very grateful that we were thinking of them and acknowledging the great work they are doing during this time.
11.01.2022 This week is Catholic Education Week. The theme is 'Listen to what the Spirit is saying.' It is a time to celebrate all we do in our schools and who we are as a community. Whether we are at home or at school we are reminded that - 'As learning communities who are part of the Christian mission we have the task to promote the full dignity and development of all people. We are dedicated to children learning at high levels within a culture that optimizes learning for all. We will use contemporary teaching practices in all areas academic, physical, spiritual, emotional and social as we pass on the beliefs and traditions of our Catholic faith in an environment of care, which reflects the values of the Gospel." 07.01.2022 A few weeks ago, the senior students wrote letters to our friends at Geoffrey Cutter. At this time of isolation, we knew many of them would be feeling lonely, unable to have visitors. It was lovely this week to receive a beautiful email thanking the children for thinking of the residents. Some residents even sent their own letters of thanks.
04.01.2022 We miss you all. Stay safe everyone.
03.01.2022 One week in and what was unfamiliar only a few days ago has become the new normal for the staff, children and parents of St. Mary’s. Our days now consist of morning check-ins online, logging into emails to check on tasks and communicate, uploading work to be viewed, corrected and to receive feedback, using videos to see each other, have chats, participate in lessons and even share our Show and Tell items, as well as using our ‘packs’ of work to stay on task. There are smiles on faces, engaging conversations to be heard and laughter shared as we continue to explore new ways to continue the learning and teaching at St. Mary’s. Well done everyone. You are all doing a fabulous job!
03.01.2022 We are open for enrolments. All enquires are welcomed.
