10.01.2022 Each year since 2005, selected Year 11 students and staff embarked on a journey to Vietnam. Year 11 student Lily reflects on our journey in 2019: "When reflecting on our trip to Vietnam, I see it as an indescribable experience filled with so many moments of joy and appreciation. For me, the highlight of the trip was our time spent at Phu My Orphanage in Saigon caring, feeding and playing with the children there. We also visited many Vietnamese restaurants, learnt how to bar...ter in the markets and cruised down the Mekong River. Other highlights of the trip included working in a food kitchen that provided meals for the families of cancer patients and teaching English in a convent that brings children out of poverty to receive an education. We travelled five hours to Ba Loc where we spent two days working on a coffee bean plantation with past residents of Phu My Orphanage, who now live and work on the plantation. The immersion experience opened my eyes to how much love and happiness comes from relationships and experiences. We all walked away with a sense of purpose and gratitude as these children have touched our lives forever". The experience is so enriching not only for our students, staff and the College community, but also for those we support in Vietnam. This year, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, we could not proceed with this trip. However, our links remain strong, and we hope that we can recommence our journey soon.
