18.01.2022 Indonesian Language students ranked 1st! During Term 3, Languages students in years 7-10 participated in the Regional Languages Championships organised by Education Perfect. Education Perfect is an online learning platform that we use at St Mary’s in the Languages faculty to consolidate language learning in a fun and engaging manner that leads to increased learning outcomes. 14.01.2022 Year 12 student Lillee Pollock is a talented and motivated athlete. Lillee is not only heavily involved in school sport but is also an avid sportswoman on the weekends. On Sunday, 1 November Lillee competed at the State Road Cycling Championships at Gunning. It was a tough, highly competitive race with undesirable weather conditions. Lillee persevered and her hard work paid off. It was a 67km race with six competitors and Lillee placed first coming away with the title of State Champion and defeating the current National Champion in the process. Well done Lillee!

This was especially so for teen girls who, according to research, have many more struggles (on average) than their male peers. Add in a global pandemic, with interruptions to academic, sporting, musical, and artistic endeavours potentially adding to mental health risk, it is vital that we learn how to best support our teen through tricky time...s. You can join us too. https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/community/team-smc Challenge yourself physically, learn about mental health, engage in some friendly rivalry and help our organisation support mental health and suicide prevention through The Push-Up Challenge. www.thepushupchallenge.com.au Over the course of 21-days in May you'll be challenged to complete 3,046 push-ups in total, representing the number of lives lost in Australia to suicide in 2018. All funds raised through The Push-Up Challenge this year are supporting headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation who provide mental health support to young Australians aged 12-25 years. Fundraising is optional but offers a great opportunity to support young people in our community.

Educational institutions will be participating in these virtual careers expos in lieu of the traditional major careers markets that have been cancelled as a result of COVID-19 restrictions and public health advice. Staff from universities, registered training organisations and employers will be available to talk to students and parents through these platforms. A great way to explore and speak to many institutions and employers in one place.

02.01.2022 Year 7 Reflection Day drew attention to the plight of the those who live in countries less fortunate than our own. Students carried buckets to Belmore Basin, filled it with water and carried them back to the College. They gained a little experience of what it is like for some families everyday, who have to travel great distances for water, something that most of us take for granted.
