24.01.2022 Can you measure using a ruler? During our school readiness program the children used their numeracy development by using their measurement skills. We discussed ...that there are different types of measurement forms for example; rulers, tape measures, measuring wheel or a measuring food scale. We introduced this activity by providing the Butterflies with a ruler that scaled from 1-10. Then the children were provided with a worksheet being made by their educator that consists of different sized coloured lines. The children placed their rulers underneath the lines and measured and understood the concept of measurement using a ruler and identification of numbers. The Butterflies did a fantastic job at this experience we are so proud of them. See more
22.01.2022 Sinking or Floating? The children wanted to engage in a fun activity that requires water play, so we asked the children if they wanted to explore objects from a...round the room and see if they sink or float in water. The Butterflies were so excited that they each gathered natural objects from around the room ready for their science experiment. Each child took turns dropping their object into the water trough and determine if their object was buoyant enough to stay afloat. See more

17.01.2022 The Butterflies have been working on their numeracy and alphabetical concepts through our school readiness programs. The children extended their writing skills... by tracing their names together with identifying the letters of the alphabet in their names. Shortly after, we provided the children with some intentional teaching that require them to understand the concepts between Odd and Even numbers by using natural materials. The Butterflies showed great confidence and skill during this experience by arranging the numbers from 1-10 in sequence and applying the red buttons to the matching number. See more
15.01.2022 FOOT PRINT PAINTING! The children had lots of fun using their feet to complete this craft activity today. They couldn’t help but laugh & squirm from the cold, tickling sensation as the paint was applied all over their feet before they began. The kids used various techniques to spread the paint including standing, sliding, jumping and stomping. They even enjoyed watching their friends having their turn at being tickled by the paint brushes! This activity promotes sensory exploration as well as creative thinking.
13.01.2022 Show and Tell Time- This morning we introduced to the Butterflies our Show and tell lesson, the children shared their item of their choice to their peers. The c...hildren used their verbal communication skills with their educators and friends to describe their object using descriptive language. This includes describing the shape, colour, and how many legs or wings does your object have. Once the children have finished describing their object, their peers used open-ended questions to them as a source of re-framing what they have just discussed. Group-time- Today during group time the Butterflies used their numeracy and alphabetical development to recognise the number and alphabet their educator had asked. Not only did the children depict the correct one but they also made the phonic sound of that particular letter. With this we extended the children's learning by teaching the Butterflies the "Ants in the Apple" song. Our new Book corner- The children assisted their educators to build a new book corner using natural materials. The Butterflies requested they wanted a cave for their book corner so their educators gathered materials to build the new book corner. The children used their fine motor skills to scrunch the brown paper and place it onto the arch of the book cover, together with gathering real life plants and placing them on top of their cove. The children placed pillows and natural books to read underneath their cove. The children feel safe that this new book corner is a calming environment for them.

05.01.2022 The children were keen to do some science experiments and investigating today! They were encouraged to use their cognitive and sensory skills as they visually c...ompared the contents of the test tubes then held one in each hand to get a feel for the weight and decide which one was heavier before finally placing them in the scales to find the answer. Everyone showed a lot of interest in this activity & asked if we can continue experimenting this afternoon.
