24.01.2022 A little weekend quiz: do you kow what hojicha / houjicha is? . Invented in Kyoto a while back, this amazing cousin of matcha is basically lightly roasted green tea leaves. Hojicha comes in either loose leaf tea or powder forms (and we stock both at St Matcha! ) . It has a nutty, toasty flavour with a hint of caramel and toffee. With hojicha powder, you can make a latte or use in baking as you would with matcha powder. Our hojicha powder comes from the birth place of the tea itself (Kyoto) and is JAAS certified organic.
