25.01.2022 Today we mark a very special celebration for the Archdiocese of Sydney with the ordination of four new priests to serve our parishes: Deacons Jonathan Vala, Noe...l Custodio, John Pham and Roberto Keryakos. The ordination of these faith-filled young men is a gift for the people of God in Sydney and beyond. This gives us great hope, confidence, faith and gratitude to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Attendance at the 11am Ordination Mass is limited to invitation only because of COVID-19 restrictions. If you're unable to attend the Mass in person, I invite you to watch it online here: https://bit.ly/2ZPCzz9

22.01.2022 Today is the feast day of Saint Joseph of Cupertino who is famous for levitating and the patron saint of pilots, astronauts and air travellers. Born in Naples,... he joined the Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual and after his ordination gave himself up entirely to a life of devotion to the Lord. The Holy Spirit began to work many amazing miracles through Saint Joseph and on more than seventy occasions people say they saw him rise from the ground while offering mass or praying. We pray for everyone in the aviation industry who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. He is also the patron of exam takers. Saint Joseph Cupertino pray for us See more

17.01.2022 Shock jock Kyle Sandilands Virgin Mary slur from this time last year ruled indecent but it did not reach the threshold under the Commercial Radio Code of Practice for a breach of rules.

17.01.2022 In 1422 an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary took place in Assisi to a Franciscan novice named James. As a child, he had the custom of offering daily the Virgin Mary a crown of roses. When he entered the Friars Minor, he became distressed that he would no longer be able to offer this gift. The Blessed Virgin appeared to him to give him comfort and showed him another daily offering that he might do: to pray every day seven decades of Hail Marys, meditating between each decade on one of the seven joys that she had experienced in her life. #PrayTheRosary #Rosary #MaryMonday

15.01.2022 "We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have be...en few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." - Viktor Frankl Photo source: Wikimedia Commons

15.01.2022 In the recent encyclical Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis reminds us that without an openness to the Father of all, there will be no solid and stable reasons for a...n appeal to fraternity. We are certain that only with this awareness that we are not orphans, but children, can we live in peace with one another. For reason, by itself, is capable of grasping the equality between men and of giving stability to their civic coexistence, but it cannot establish fraternity" (n. 272). Therefore, let us open our hearts to the merciful action of God who unites us in unity and makes us have one heart and one mind oriented towards Him. See more

14.01.2022 This is what we believe about intercession. We do not worship Mary. We love Mary. We honor Mary. We respect Mary. We learn from Mary. We take joy in Mary. And we ask for her powerful intercession.... We do not worship the Saints. We love the saints. We honor saints. We respect the saints. We learn from saints. We take joy in saints. And we ask for their powerful intercession. Just as we ask for the intercession of our friends here on earth we ask for the intercession of our friends in Heaven. Simple

12.01.2022 "Visiting Pinegrove Cemetery on Father's Day for the first time, I can honestly say l was blessed by God that day. I cleaned my Pops grave and added more water to the flowers already there before adding my own, as though in a trance. Sitting down before his headstone l prayed to God to let Pop hear me. I then spent for what felt like the next two hours talking to him, praying and crying in equal measure. The biggest question running through my head at the time being "Is he in... Heaven, or is he in Purgatory and needs my help?" After visiting Pop l visited his sister to pray for her and put flowers down. I've never met her, but she is family and that is enough for me. Needing God with an aching need, I went to the cemetery chapel near where he is buried. Only to discover it wasn't a place of God, but simply a reception area for funerals. Heartbroken l circled the building hoping l was wrong. I wasn't. Sitting down on a bench beneath a tree outside the building, exhausted from all the crying I'd done that day, l didn't notice at first. But beside me, sitting between the cracks, is a beautiful little purple flower. The kind of flower l like, and just sitting there as though placed there by a person sitting beside me on the other side. I wept anew Caressing the flower with great care as l cried and thanked Jesus repeatedly for his gift when l desperately needed it. I spent a long time there with no desire to leave. But like Martha l have mouths to feed and a house to keep. I left the little flower on the bench despite wishing to keep it. To hold Jesus in whatever form he takes close to my heart. Feeling that God had more work for the little flower to do." *Shared on a Parishioners Behalf* Proof that God sends messages and miracles in our modern era. Thank you for sharing

11.01.2022 Today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Sorrows, which commemorates the seven great sorrows which Mary lived in relation to Her Son, as recorded in the Gospels or through tradition. Today we are invited to reflect on Mary's deep suffering: At the prophecy of Simeon: "You yourself shall be pierced with a sword - so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare." (Luke 2:35).... At the flight into Egypt; "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt." (Mt 2:13). Having lost the Holy Child at Jerusalem; "You see that your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow." (Luke 2:48). Meeting Jesus on his way to Calvary; Standing at the foot of the Cross; "Near the cross of Jesus there stood His mother." (John 19:25). Jesus being taken from the Cross; At the burial of Christ. Our Lady of Sorrows pray for us

08.01.2022 Today is the feast day of Saint Padre Pio, the patron saint of adolescents. Born Francesco Forgione to a poor farming family in Pietrelcina, Italy, he expressed... a desire to be a priest very early. At the age of fifteen, he entered the novitiate for the Capuchin Franciscan Friars, taking the name Pio. He was ordained Padre (Father) Pio seven years later. One day, while praying, he experienced a vision of the wounded Christ and received the Stigmata. Before long, the news spread and Padre Pio became well-known and a great spiritual influence, not only in Italy, but around the world. St. Padre Pios life, on earth, touched many lives and it continues to this day. He is also the patron saint of civil defence volunteers and the city of Pietrelcina. 05.01.2022 While shopping earlier today, I picked up some chicken legs. Just before the young lady rang them up, I asked if she knew whether they were front or back legs. She paused for a moment, read everything she could on the package and not finding the answer said; "I don't know. Let me go ask my manager". She came back a few minutes later, looked at me and said, "NOT FUNNY!!" I said, "I'm sorry but I thought it was." The guy behind me laughing hysterically blurted out....."NOT FUN...NY, IT WAS HILARIOUS!" Have a great weekend #SaturdayGiggles

04.01.2022 Three sisters age 92, 94 and 96 live in a house together. One night the 96 year old draws a bath, puts her foot in and pauses. She yells down the stairs, "Was I getting in or out of the bath?" The 94 year old yells back, "I don't know, I'll come up and see." She starts up the stairs and pauses, then she yells, "Was I going up the stairs or coming down?"... The 92 year old was sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, "I sure hope I never get that forgetful." She knocks on wood for good measure. She then yells, "I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door." #SaturdayGiggles

03.01.2022 13 NOVEMBER BIRTH OF SAINT AUGUSTINE OF HIPPO FEAST OF SAINTS OF THE AUGUSTINIAN FAMILY DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE ORDER OF SAINT AUGUSTINE... Today, on the birthday of Augustine, we celebrate not only those saints and blessed formally recognized by the Church, but all Augustinians of every nation, whose names are written in the Book of Life. Our celebration is an act of thanksgiving to God for the gifts of holiness found in the Order. It is also an invitation to us to take as our guide the many brothers and sisters who faithfully followed the gospel in their religious consecration. The Augustinians set aside this day to call to mind the many brothers and sisters of our religious family who have reached their ultimate goal. Their memory encourages and inspires us, their prayers assist us and spurs us on. United as we have been with them through the bond of our common religious profession, we seek to be united together with them in Christ in the fullness of life.
