22.01.2022 We got a little bit further into our maths investigation today in 4M... we were able to figure out the probability of each game and come up with a fraction to express our understanding... we now have to figure out how to compare fractions with different denominators... The fractions we need to compare are 1/4, 2/6, 6/36 and 12/52. Can you figure this one out? #hardwork #welovemaths #dontjudgeafractionuntilyougettoknowone

12.01.2022 Congratulations to Daisy and Zara for their huge effort today. The girls came up with a plan to help the people in Beirut affected by the recent, devastating explosion. They talked their very generous mums into helping them bake cupcakes and cookies for the event. The girls raised a whopping $263.50 in just 30 minutes at recess time today. Mrs Powell even managed to turn the counting of money raised, into a maths lesson! Thank you girls for your leadership, compassion and spirit of service. All funds raised will be donated to the Red Cross appeal for Beirut.

08.01.2022 Today we were working scientifically. Year 5M were posing questions, making detailed observations, suggesting explanations, and comparing change and patterns in data when investigating food items. The food items are being observed over a 5 week period. Some items were difficult to view without having our stomachs cringe

07.01.2022 Today, we held our inaugural and super-exciting St Matthew’s Inquiry Exhibition Celebration! This was our chance to present our inquiry journeys to our peers and teachers. We talked about our successes and challenges, about the new skills we learned, and about how we might take action in the future. All of our exhibitors stood tall, spoke clearly and were experts in their field. Visitors to each exhibit asked interesting questions and got some fabulous ideas for inquiry in 2021! A big thank you to our teachers, who made the units of inquiry so successful for the students. Kath Murdoch Consulting

01.01.2022 Does luck exist? Our current maths investigation involves finding out the answer to this question and proving it! In our imaginary class game show, we have to decide which game has the best odds... If we can figure it out (and prove it) one million dollars is also up for grabs! Elevating Learning
