25.01.2022 In todays Gospel reading, Jesus calls us out for being critical of others without first reflecting on ourselves and our own behaviour. Its not easy but we can better serve those around us by working to become more understanding, more generous and more contemplative. #youthfriyay "Why do you see the speck in your neighbors eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, Friend, let me take out the speck in your eye, when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbors eye." -Luke 6:41-42

25.01.2022 We have all been invited to join in Bishop Greg’s Episcopal Ordination via live stream on December 8. Details below.

23.01.2022 His feast day is not until Monday but we thought it was too good an opportunity to share about Bl. Frederic Ozanam this #youthfriyay In Paris in 1833, the 19 year old Ozanam was moved by the plight of the poor to put his faith into action and he founded the Society of St Vincent de Paul. He is an inspiration to Vinnies volunteers everywhere (including our own Young Vinnies) and was a pioneer of Catholic Social Teaching. Ozanam burned with youthful passion and a heart full of love that drove him to serve those in need. May we take up the call serve others too. Bl. Frederiz Ozanam, pray for us.

23.01.2022 Today was Fr Jeff’s birthday. He likes to keep this day low key but we want to acknowledge him and all the wonderful work he does for our parish. We are lucky to have him as our shepherd. We hope he spent the day out in nature, his favourite place to be, and that he found some time to just breathe.

22.01.2022 Our society tends to push away or draw away from those who confront us with our frailties and limitations. This is not the way of Jesus. Let us follow him in drawing near to those who are experiencing mental ill health and acknowledge that they are members of the Body of Christ - they are part of us!

22.01.2022 R U OK? Now more than ever we need to check up on each other. But dont stop at Are You Okay? Sometimes its the extra questions thats see people open up and we find out they are not ok. Its good to admit we are struggling and share how we feel, you usually discover you are not alone

09.01.2022 On this first day of Seasons of Creation lets remember the Holy Spirit is foundational to who we are as a community. It inspires and informs our work to act for justice and build inclusive communities. The Spirits dynamic presence embodies our quest for transformation. This is where the Spirit has called us and continues to do so. As we work for renewal, were inspired by a powerful prayer by Diarmuid OMurchu:

08.01.2022 Please be aware that masks are now mandatory in the church again as of tonight. If you have attended the Holy Family parish since 26/12 we ask you don’t attend mass until clear of any symptoms. Please be aware that masks are now mandatory in the church again as of tonight. 06.01.2022 Today at 7pm you are invited to light a candle in the darkness as a symbol of hope. Members of the Catholic Eccumencial Councils, Faith Communities of Victoria and Victorian Council of Churches are encouraging people as the last light of the last day of winter fades, stand in your front garden and spend some time in silence, perhaps light a candle, to remember all those who have lost their lives to the Coronavirus or to violence. Then, as the first night of spring begins, look to the future with prayer and hope. Let us move from the cold and the dark into warmth and light together. https://facebook.com/events/s/light-in-the-darkness-time-out/751594142338300/?ti=icl

05.01.2022 Theres a lot to think about in the world at the moment so lets keep it simple. Be kind. Bring love. #Catholic #stmichaelsyouth

05.01.2022 'How many people daily exercise patience and offer hope, taking care to spread not panic, but shared responsibility ... Each of us can discover in Joseph the ...man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble.' To mark the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church, Pope Francis has proclaimed a Year of St Joseph, running from Dec 8, 2020 to Dec 8, 2021. Access the message and a prayer card here, with more resources coming soon: www.catholic.org.au/yearofstjoseph

We want to thank you for your patience as we navigate how best to return with the increasing numbers while following the necessary laws set in place to keep us all safe. It was apt that the first candle to be lit this weekend was that of Hope

01.01.2022 This weekend, the Catholic Church in Australia marks Child Protection Sunday, on which we pray for those who have been abused, their families and supporters. We... recognise and apologise for the harm done by priests, religious and lay people in Church settings. The Church takes a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. We recommit to practices that support survivors and make the Catholic Church and its ministries the safest possible place for children and people at risk.
