14.01.2022 Council has installed a flood warning system in the Greenpatch Campground. Annual live testing of the flood warning system will occur on Thursday 5 November 2020. The test will begin with a voice activation lasting approximately 25 seconds followed by a siren tone also lasting approximately 30 seconds. When will live testing happen? ... The warning system will be tested on Thursday 5 November 2020 between 11am and 12 noon. What do I need to do? This is a test only. Residents and visitors in the area do not need to take any action. If you are concerned about your pets during the testing please ensure they are secured in your home and yard so they can’t escape. Why is this happening? In a real time situation, the flood warning system will be activated at the Greenpatch Campground when Mulgrave River reaches a height of 9.5m AHD. This is to ensure sufficient time (approximately 3 hours) for evacuation of the campground before floodwaters potentially start to enter the lower areas of the site. Should you have any further enquiries or require additional information, please contact Cairns Regional Council on 1300 69 22 47 or email [email protected].
