18.01.2022 Dear Parents and Friends, Our Opening Mass for the 2020 School Year sent an inspirational message from Pope Francis to all members of our school community that as Catholics we are called to Wake up and leave your mark on... life. There is no better opportunity to do this than in a Catholic school. It is here that the Gospel values of courage, compassion, resilience, loyalty and faith, to name a few, are the ones that teachers follow in developing a child’s character, so that they can take their place in the world as well-rounded young adults able to contribute with integrity and conviction. These are the strong values that all those Catholics before us believed in and practised when educating a child. The 2020 School Year is significant as we celebrate 200 years of Catholic education in Australia. Indeed it has been a remarkable history with the first school opened in October 1820 in Hunter Street Parramatta in rather humble conditions. Since then we have grown to 1750 Catholic schools nationally educating some 765,000 students which equates to 1 in 5 students in Australia, a truly remarkable achievement especially when you consider that up until the early 1970’s schools were funded entirely by the parents. The 2020 School Year is also significant as it completes the growth of the school into a full two streamed structure. Kindergarten to Year 4 classes are grouped into three classes to allow for a smaller pupil-teacher ratio in the younger years. The school population at census day consisted of 467 students across 19 class groups and supported by specialist teachers for, Music, Library, Physical Education and Sport, STEM, Special needs and Gifted Education. This year will also see the amalgamation of Marist Boys and St Mary’s School into one K-12 College named Marist Catholic College North Shore. The College will also be part of a new Sydney Catholic Schools Structure called Networks. Our school will form part of the North Shore Network of Catholic Systemic Schools along with Sacred Heart Primary at Mosman, St Michael’s Primary Lane Cove and Blessed Sacrament Primary at Clifton Gardens. The Chief Executive Officer (previously known as the Regional Director) for this Network of schools is the newly appointed Mrs Barbara Watkins. Mr Tony Duncan remains the Principal of the LaValla campus (7-12) and I remain the Principal of St Mary’s campus (K-6) which form Marist Catholic College North Shore. We look forward to working closely together with the staff and parent communities of both campus sites throughout this year as we amalgamate the two current schools. We look forward to welcoming new parents to the Open Day for the two schools on Wednesday February 26th from 3:30 until 4:30 in the afternoon. Warm wishes for a positive week ahead. God bless, Beverly

02.01.2022 Today saw students from Kindergarten to Year 12 return to school full time! I am thrilled that students have returned to face to face learning in the class...room, and I know there was a lot of excitement in our school communities this morning. The education of our kids is so important and we know that full time face to face teaching is the best way to learn. I would like to thank all the parents, teachers and students who have gone above and beyond during this challenging time.
