25.01.2022 For Anzac Day - that beautiful hymn "I Vow to Thee My Country", It also makes a wonderful poem: I Vow To Thee My Country Hymn (Gustav Holst) I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love:... The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice. And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace. A Prayer for Anzac Day God of love and liberty, We bring our thanks today for the peace and security we enjoy, We remember those who in time of war faithfully served their country. We pray for their families, and for ourselves whose freedom was won at such a cost. Gratefully remembering their courage and their sacrifice, may we have the grace to live in a spirit of justice, of generosity, and of concord Make us a people zealous for peace, and hasten that day when nation shall not lift up sword against nation neither learn war any more. This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world: Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. Amen. Lest We Forget,

24.01.2022 ANZAC Day Saturday 25th April 2020 This year, in our Covid - 19 environment, contemplate standing in your driveway, on your balcony, or in your living room, to remember all those who have served and sacrificed. Just imagine how special it would be if every Australian was standing in their driveway, or where ever they can, at 6am on ANZAC Day, holding a candle, united in spirit to remember all those who have served and sacrificed for the lifestyle we enjoy today.... (this is an initiative taken on by other states, and also Ballarat RSL)

18.01.2022 We were just a few at Walk Pray Eat this morning. It was heartwarming to share our love and prayers for each other, and for our community, in this wonderful environment, and to feel a small sense of normality in our lives.

17.01.2022 GOOD FRIDAY This painting of the crucifixion by Chagall, invites the words of this hymn by Brian Wren (sing to the tune of Eternal Father Strong to Save) A body, broken on a cross, with watching women's helpless grief,... and men in heedless, headlong flight, through fear, despair or disbelief -- in this, though still we find it strange, are life, and hope, and power to change. When disillusion chains our feet and might and money turn to dust, when exile, desert or defeat have left us nothing else to trust, at last our spirit understands the strength of peaceful, nail-scarred hands. A nation drifting in decline can turn to just and loving ways, and people empty, bruised, ashamed, can find rebirth to joy and praise, and churches, wakened, can exchange a huddled death for power to change. Brian Wren (tune: Melita)

17.01.2022 Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Update We regret that from Monday 23rd March, St Nicholas has suspended all church services and parish activities, as directed by the Diocese of Melbourne for all churches. This is to do our best to minimise the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus. However, our Locum Priest, the Rev'd Robyn Boyd and other parishioners are available for personal ministry needs.... It is sad that we have to suspend services and close the Church, however other measures will be in place to provide our community with prayer needs, sermons and other electronic worship opportunities. Information will be posted as it comes to hand. With thanks, and blessings, Rev'd Robyn Boyd, [email protected]

15.01.2022 This week, 27 May - 3 June, is National Reconciliation Week. Here are some words from Glenn Loughery,a Wiradjuri man, artist and Vicar of St Oswald's Glen Iris. Today we work together to further that national journey towards a fully reconciled country. Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and ...Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We strive towards a more just, equitable nation by championing unity and mutual respect as we come together and connect with one another. On this journey, Australians are all In This Together; every one of us has a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. We acknowledge that through this land, the First Peoples were nurtured and sustained by the Spirit alive in this place, and in a spirit of responsibility and reciprocity, they cared for it. We honour them for their custodianship of the land on which we gather today. We acknowledge that the First Peoples already had a sophisticated understanding of the Great Creator Spirit before the arrival of the colonisers; this Spirit was already in the land, revealing the Way to be on country through law, language, custom and ceremony. We acknowledge that this understanding resembles the love and grace that was revealed in Jesus Christ, and that it sustained the First Peoples and gave them particular insights into God’s ways: and so, we rejoice in the hope of reconciliation found in the good news about Jesus the Christ, our Elder. Blessed be God, the Great Creator Being. Blessed be God, the Breath of All, the Wisdom behind the Dreaming and the Way of Reconciliation and Healing.

14.01.2022 Daylight Savings finishes tomorrow morning at 2am. Good tip is to turn your clocks BACK (or at least the most important one) tonight before you go to bed. In this upside down world of changes nearly every day, this one thing remains constant.

09.01.2022 Jesus’ Ascension (Acts 1:1-11) The Ascension of our Lord is often overlooked, yet is integral to the whole of the Jesus story. His death and resurrection aren’t the end or completion of the story Jesus’ life continues. In us. Christ leaves his time on earth behind. His disciples are told to await the coming of God's Spirit - the missional power with which we will be filled, to enable us to work and proclaim in Christ's name. and so we await Pentecost -10 days after the A...scension -celebrated on Sunday next week. As we wait in silence, make us ready for your coming Spirit. As we listen to your word, make us ready for your coming Spirit. As we worship you in majesty, make us ready for your coming Spirit. As we long for your refreshing, make us ready for your coming Spirit. As we long for your renewing, make us ready for your coming Spirit. As we long for your equipping, make us ready for your coming Spirit. As we long for your empowering, make us ready for your coming Spirit. See more

07.01.2022 Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. Join with us in celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit by wearing red, and look for the blessing and activity of the Spirit in and around you. "Without Pentecost the Christ-event - the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus - remains imprisoned in history as something to remember, think about and reflect on. The Spirit of Jesus comes to dwell within us, so that we can become living Christs here and now". Henri Nouwen
