15.01.2022 MEGA GALLERY: Our Gillieston Heights centre Only a few weeks left until we open the doors of St Nick’s Gillieston Heights to families for the very first time. In the meantime, here’s an exclusive first look at the brand new centre! The new centre, expected to open for families in late January, will feature a number of unique elements, all designed to provide parents and children with a meaningful and enjoyable educational experience.... Three large natural outdoor play spaces complete with a variety of natural elements have been thoughtfully designed and built to excite and engage children’s innate curiosities. Dry river beds , bicycle paths , a basket swing , large sandstone sandpits , garden beds and much more will be available for children to enjoy during outdoor play time. An additional ‘bush kinder’ environment--a first for St Nicholas--will allow for free play in a natural setting to promote exploration and discovery. The bush kinder environment will feature a climbing hill, a natural bamboo archway, a duck enclosure and a mud pit feeding from water pumped through various dry river beds. Members of the community will be encouraged to add to the bush kinder area over time. Inside the centre, Gillieston Heights’ large, open-plan classrooms will offer unique opportunities for play-based learning at every turn. ‘Sensory nooks’ scattered throughout the centre will provide a quiet space for children to be alone if they feel the need, especially beneficial for children with additional needs. A shared space for meal times will afford children the opportunity to participate in a communal dining experience with their younger and older peers as they eat. Interest in the centre has been high, so parents who may be interested in enrolling their children are encouraged to enquire as soon as possible to secure their place.
