25.01.2022 When I saw the 2019 documentary [The Final Quarter] about Adam’s final season of AFL football my guts were churning as I relived Adam’s experiences with relent...less racism on and off the field. As I watched, memories of my own experiences were stirred up and I knew I wanted to reach out and reconnect with Adam. We share some similar stories and experiencesof disconnection from culture, language and country, and the constant pressures of being an Aboriginal man in this country. https://www.artforum.com//vincent-namatjira-becomes-first-

24.01.2022 Scientists and community groups are calling for a museum to be built to save a prehistoric fossil bed of "world significance" at Koonwarra in South Gippsland. https://www.abc.net.au//fight-to-protect-koonwar/12701594

24.01.2022 Nerida. A 30min sitting, gestural drawing at a moment in time. Then re-worked with paint, graphite and general creative madness!! Nerida has moved on - she became a traditional Indian dancer - the Bharatanatyam in Melbourne. Stockyard Gallery has many creatives working from home. Our committee has put an article in our local paper - The Mirror We are ready for action when the time is right. Meanwhile check out Anne Miller’s oyster shell paintings and see the great colour Kerry Strauss has painted onto her studio walls in Foster!! All on Instagram. The South Gippsland Shire Arts Newsletter is a must see - thanks Mary Sullivan our Arts Officer Any volunteers who would like to share their creative story can contact the Shire or message us and we will help Regards to all - will keep you updated

15.01.2022 Celebrate NAIDOC WEEK 8-15NOV 2020. This Poster - Shape of Land - was judged by the National NAIDOC committee to have best illustrated the 2020 NAIDOC theme: Always Was Always Will Be. Tyrown Waigna,a proud Noongar and Saibai Islander is a Perth-based artist. According to Tyrown his work depicts the Rainbow Serpent coming out of the Dreamtime to create this country and how we are connected to it.... "The Rainbow Serpent is represented by the snake and forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected onto the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was Always Will Be".

10.01.2022 Get in touch if you'd like to visit the studio. With the open studios event for November cancelled, I'm taking visitors by appointment. It's kind of slow and personal (and covid-safe) and I don't mind it at all.

09.01.2022 We received a plant delivery today from Deep Creek Nursery so you know what that means! We’re re-opening! Again! (re-re-opening?) We’ll be open 4 days/week, Thursdays-Sundays, beginning tomorrow Friday 18th! Let’s do this! Again! X #choosehandmade #naturalethicalbeautiful

06.01.2022 We are very sorry to say we have decided to cancel our event. A few artists will go ahead and open their studios independently on the weekend of November 14 & 1...5. This won’t be part of an event, and there won’t be any ticketing or entry charges. You just come and visit. We suggest you contact artists directly using the details on our site (link in bio). You will be able to find out if a particular studio will be open, or even make a ‘by appointment visit’ for another time when you might be visiting the area. Once again our sincere apologies for cancelling the event and we hope to be back in March 2021.

06.01.2022 Open in Yarragon this weekend
