24.01.2022 Stolen Gibson Marauder Signed KISS members on back of neck

22.01.2022 After gathering information from police and other people who have recovered their guitars (or indeed other stolen items) if you have had an item stolen, it is critical to alert pawn shops and police ASAP as the thieves are banking on the item not yet reported when they pawn it (usually the day they steal it). Don't forget to keep your serial numbers and photos handy - not only electronically (as this may be inaccessible) but written down/printed out and filed. Keep sharing this website as the bigger the audience the more chance we have of recovery. Thanks to everyone who has liked and shared this page. I hope you never have to use it. Helen

22.01.2022 FANTASTIC NEWS - police have recovered the Gibson 335 from a pawn shop in Brisbane. Gordo is on his way now to collect it and is over the moon. So proud of our Queensland Police Force.

21.01.2022 MY GUITARS HAVE BEEN FOUND!!!! I have been absolutely blown away by everyone's help and support over the past couple days, the community and friends that shared the post and to the people that very kindly offered up their spare gear. Thanks so much.

20.01.2022 14 TIPS to keep your guitar (or any musical instrument) safe. (Feel free to add more). 1. Do an inventory with photos and record serial numbers, model, make and any distinguishing marks. Keep both hard and electronic copies. (Police told us this is what recovered the guitar) 2. Don't leave instruments unattended at gigs. 3. Don't leave instruments in a car.... 4. Don't have them at home on view through a window. 5. If you can afford it keep them in a safe. 6. Consider microchips or tracking devices. 7. Don't keep sales receipt with guitar. 8. For the more expensive items get specified insurance. 9. Never loan your guitar. 10. If possible alarm your place where the instruments are kept and ensure they are well locked up. 11. If it has been stolen - contact police immediately with details and start alerting pawn shops, music stores etc. Make up flyers and circulate. Social media is a good place to reach people. 12. At gigs/rehearsals don't park in dark areas and back vehcile up against a wall so they can't open the doors. Don't pack up alone. 13. Put an identifying label inside the guitar where it can't be seen. 14. If travelling by air, try and take the instrument with you. See more

15.01.2022 During late-2014, nine guitars plus others in parts, were stolen, along with the rest of my worldly possessions, presumably by the removals company charged with shifting me from Albany, Western Australia to New Zealand. The company claimed the goods went missing in Perth (400 or so km from Albany), and were quick to encourage me to claim insurance. After a prolonged fake investigation shrugged their shoulders and pronounced they had no idea what had become of my possessions. ...Continue reading

14.01.2022 STOLEN GUITARS: Hi all. Could you keep an eye out from me my home in Wicklow was burgled in the last few days and 7 instruments stolen. Some are unusual, historical guitars and very rare in Ireland. The instruments are: 1. Baroque Guitar - by Ivo Magherini: a high quality copy of a 17th century instrument, pictured below. Strung with 5 sets of double strings, except the 1st string left as a single-string. Very beautiful 'pagoda' rose decoration in the soundhole. 2. Baroq...ue Guitar - by Los Utreras 'Wendy y Tacho': similar to the above but looking a bit more like a natural wood regular guitar. Strung with 5 sets of double string, except the 1st string left as a single-string. No soundhole decoration 3. Classical Guitar - by Joaquin Garcia: high quality, hand-made, spruce top concert guitar. Unusually it has an end-pin 'strap button' recently fitted. 4. Classical Guitar - by Alvaro: Standard electro-acoustic nylon-string guitar. 5. 7-course Renaissance Lute - by Harry McCormack: a copy of a 'Robin Hood' type of 16th century instrument. Strung with 7 sets of double strings, except the 1st string left as a single-string. Similar instrument picture below. 6. Electric Guitar: Aria Pro II natural wood finish: double cutaway - 2 humbuckers. 7. Electric Guitar: Black Stratocaster copy with white pickguard & humbucker in bridge position More photos to follow. Many thanks. Eamon Sweeney See more

14.01.2022 I have found a guy in Victoria who is trying to sell a Martin D-28 for $795. After asking for the serial number he took his add off line. I found him through a trace on two other web sites. And have now engaged him with suggestions to bring in the police if he doesnt give me the serial number. I feel this is a stolen guitar and he is back peddling. Using every excuse not to give it to me. ... I now need your and the polices advice and help. I would gladly buy the guitar for that price but it seems too suspicious. I have him in messenger and will keep gentle but forceful communication as to the legitimacy of the ownership. I need your help Mike See more

08.01.2022 Hi everyone - just a reminder to make sure that you photograph your instruments and write the serial number down. If you can photograph the serial number on the instrument even better. Also photograph any distinguishing marks or scratches. It makes it a lot easier to find. We found our Gibson through the Police/Cash Converters and the photos and serial number. A very big relief.

06.01.2022 Here's a great response from Cash Converters. We are really sorry to hear of the theft. Unfortunately, we cannot take individual details of reports from the public regarding stolen or lost items. On a daily basis, all our stores upload a file to their state police service notifying them of all items bought or borrowed against during that day. The police check these reports against their own databases for any matches. If there is a possible match, the police will contact t...he appropriate outlet and seize the item until it can be determined if it is the item that has been reported to them as being stolen. All outlets are required to hold all second hand goods for a period of time prior to them being offered for sale to enable these checks to be made. These rules apply to all licensed second hand dealers, not just Cash Converters stores. Accordingly, if you have reported the loss to the police and given them an accurate description, then you have covered all licensed dealers. However, there are many ways to sell these goods other than to a licensed dealer, such as car boot sales and classified advertisements. People who steal goods know that they cannot sell them to our stores without providing full identification - so they are unlikely to bring them to us. We're sorry we cannot assist you with your request but wish you all the best for the recovery of your items.
