21.01.2022 CODE RED HAS BEEN ACTIVATED A state-wide Code Red alert has been issued for people experiencing homelessness ahead of an extreme heatwave across South Australia and eastern parts of the country this week. Hutt St Centre will extend our opening hours until 5pm Tuesday, December 17 right through to Friday, December 20 this week.... Baptist Care SA's WestCare Centre located at 11-19 Millers court, Adelaide (off Wright St), will be extending its hours from 3pm to 8pm today, providing shelter, food, water and a safe place away from the heat. The centre will also REMAIN OPEN OVER THE NEXT 3 NIGHTS - beginning on Tuesday 17 Dec until Friday 20 December. (Closed briefly from 7am - 9am for cleaning each morning). The Homelessness Gateway Service will continue to operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Anyone who is rough sleeping is encouraged to contact the Homelessness Gateway on 1800 003 308. In addition to the Code Red, the State Government will activate the Telecross REDI service tomorrow a lifesaving free phone service that provides free welfare checks at regular intervals during extreme heat events. Vulnerable people, or their representatives, can register for the Telecross REDi service by phoning 1800 188 071 or (08) 8100 4510, or by emailing [email protected] Please Share

While being at home in lockdown is not where we had planned to spend your 21st I have tried to give you the best day I could Olin these circumstances.
