09.05.2022 I had a fairly large slab of Jarrah burl that at some time in it's past life must have been used as a coffee/side table. It weighed an absolute ton so I decided NOT to re-use it as a coffee table...... you'd have to put it in a spot and never move it again!! lol So I decided to cut it up into smaller re-useable pieces to make bowls. So far I have made 3 bowls from it and have a fourth one to go. Jarrah burls are truly beautiful pieces of timber, as are most burls. They are... full of twist and turns, tiny knots, larger knots, cracks and bits of bark. They make really interesting, beautiful and useful bowls. These bowls are all for sale. As this is the last piece of Jarrah that, in all probability, I will ever have (too expensive to buy it here in Tassie!) once these bowls are gone, that's it, no more!! So if you would like to buy one of the gorgeous pieces made from native Aussie timber get in quick! See more

29.04.2022 Another tip shop rescue job! Antique Roman style Curule Chair. Once again in a very sorry state when we bought it. We didn't know the first thing about restoration when we did this! So it has been cleaned up, re-varnished and completely re-upholstered including all new strapping underneath, re padded and a pretty tapestry upholstery fabric applied to the top with braid and upholstery tacks.

14.04.2022 Soooo.... just another thing we've been doing over the last year or so. Found this gorgeous antique Victorian child's rocking chair at the local tip shop in a pretty sorry state and couldn't resist getting it. Hubby and I have fully restored it, hopefully to a bit like the way it was meant to look! It has been completely refinished with Danish oil after removing old varnishes, built up dirt etc. We removed all the tatty upholstery and re-padded it and then reupholstered it. Not for sale!
