19.01.2022 The Man from Stoney Creek. There was movement at the Station and the word was passed about That a fire front was threatening and the first crew was decked out T...he night would be a long one and the roster needed names This was a serious situation, no time for playing games. Every year the same folk raise their hands into the skies To volunteer their time, their sweat and risk their very lives When fire comes and threatens and things look rather bleak The best man for the job is the Man from Stoney Creek. He’s a dedicated non descript, aged teens to 75 He’s just completed training and been a fireman all his life He isn’t after glory and there’s no reward to seek. A quiet achieving team mate is the Man from Stoney Creek He does the chores of others to let another team mate go No recognition is required for it isn’t done for show. The children still need bathing and the cows don’t milk themselves So those million things he should have done wait patiently on the shelves. He is an unsung hero for he’s more than just one man And he isn’t just the men folk for the women help where they can He wears every different shoe size but his boots are hard to fill Cause it’s stinking hot in summer fighting flames up on a hill. So when you go to bed tonight ask yourself am I that man? Who holds the interests of his neighbours and helps where ever he can. It’s really just simple things that divide the strong from the weak So come and be the legend of the Man from Stoney Creek. John Lynn 2005
