24.01.2022 Thanks and well done to Richard and his son Aaron, Phil, Blaise and Adrian who played the Last Post at various Melbourne intersections at 11am today, as part of the RSL Victoria Remembrance Day commemorations. Thanks also to Frank who played at the cenotaph in Victoria Gardens for the Prahran RSL commemoration. A very different year, but it was great to see these important commemorations continue, albeit in a reduced way.

24.01.2022 We’re all missing playing, but here’s a chance to at least enjoy some great brass band music streaming from NZ. Hook up to the big screen, turn up the volume and enjoy having nothing more important to do in lockdown.

23.01.2022 Congratulations to our new VBL Executive, appointed at the AGM yesterday.

21.01.2022 Our 109th AGM was held last night via Zoom. Thanks to the 32 members and 2 guests who were able to attend and to others for their apology. Thanks also to those members who have taken on a position of responsibility to ensure the Band runs smoothly into 2021 and beyond. All we need now is the OK to play! Be patient, everyone and stay safe.

18.01.2022 THIS IS NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK. Although we might not be rehearsing or performing at the moment, be proud of your efforts as volunteers, supporting our Council and the important work of community organisations such as the RSL, Uniting Care and Rotary. We are lucky to be able to volunteer in the community doing something that we love. Thanks to one and all

17.01.2022 Despite the difficulties caused by Covid-19, it was great to see the VBL move the State Solo and Ensemble Championships on line. Thanks for your efforts! Well done to Richard Loo and his son Aaron, who each performed a trumpet solo and also played a duet together. Three very good performances! Congratulations to Kath Sudholz on achieving 3rd place in the Open Horn section!... You should all be very proud of your efforts!

17.01.2022 Need a little Band fix? Tune in to the Virtual Queensland Band Championships, courtesy of Tim and the Brassbannd team. (Something to watch while you’re waiting for the AFL Grand Final!)

16.01.2022 Another opportunity to keep playing

15.01.2022 We might not be rehearsing as a band, but we can practise at home and have a go at a solo.......or duet if two of you live in the same house

14.01.2022 Thanks to members of Stonnington City Brass and all bands who played The Last Post in their driveway at dawn.

14.01.2022 Hang in there everyone!

14.01.2022 It’s sad to hear that the Australian National Band Championships which were to be held in Newcastle over Easter 2021 have been cancelled, due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 Restrictions, and just where we will be at by Easter. Consideration has also been given to the fact that we would all be coming from a different starting point with some bands rehearsing and others not likely to resume until into next year. But don’t despair! The Championships will now be replaced by the Australian National Online Festival of Bands, where we can choose to submit just one item of the four music items if that’s all we have the opportunity to rehearse. Great to have something to look forward to when bands are finally able to get back together!

10.01.2022 Sad but necessary. Look forward to 2021 everyone!

09.01.2022 We might not be able to rehearse together, but think how good we will be when we CAN all come to rehearsal if we follow this advice. Keep smiling and don’t forget to wash your hands.......and your mouthpiece!

09.01.2022 We can’t wait to see these smiling faces again when the COVID-19 restrictions allow. Until then it is great to know we have the support of the City of STONNINGTON! Thank you.

07.01.2022 What are you playing today??!

04.01.2022 It was great to catch up with members on our Zoom get-together last night. As restrictions are eased, we all want to get back to rehearsal but we need to be sure all systems are go before we take the plunge. Be patient as we are definitely getting closer, even if it is only for a socially distanced quartet in the carpark! Our Footy Grand Final tipping competition was well received, and winners should receive their prize in the mail very soon. Thanks to all who took part! Keep smiling and be kind.

03.01.2022 Important information!

03.01.2022 Our Superconductor is as anxious as the rest of us to get back to rehearsing and performing. Hang in there everyone!

03.01.2022 Hope to see all members join our Zoom AGM tomorrow night (Tuesday 13th October, 2020). Please check your email for the link.

01.01.2022 Big congratulations to our cornet player Blaise Vinot, who took part in the recent Gunnedah on-line Eisteddfod and placed 2nd in the Brass solo - Own choice - Open category! We are very proud of your effort! Hope everyone is practising as much as you obviously have been while we are unable to rehearse together.
