13.01.2022 When Cathy Freeman cloaked herself in the Aboriginal flag at the 1994 Commonwealth Games it created a furore in Australian media. Despite the bigotry and racism she was faced with during her time of triumph, Cathy Freeman’s remarkable accomplishments inspired a nation with hope and an incredible sense of pride that continues to spread across the country. Our EXPRESSIONS Youth Committee is organising an event to help promote equality where we will be discussing some of the key... themes highlighted in a film that documents one of Australia’s proudest moments. 12.01.2022 Stage 4 Restrictions What you need to know Melbourne has moved to Stage 4 restrictions for 6 weeks until 13 September. The rest of Victoria has moved to Stage 3 restrictions. Remote learning has returned across uni, TAFE and all schools.... In Melbourne, there is a 5km travel radius for shopping and exercise, with curfews from 8pm to 5am with reduced hours for public transport. The curfew does NOT apply to anybody leaving their home to escape family or domestic violence. Work, medical care and compassionate reasons are exempt, including trips to see your partner. If you do leave the house, a mask is mandatory. The next six weeks will be hard, but it is really important that we follow these restrictions to keep our family and friends safe.
