22.01.2022 I welcome the announcement that the ACT Government is not going to pursue its No.1 option of taking 100% of the contributions and putting it in a centralised fund (The Chief Ministers Charitable Fund). However, it appears the Andy an Gordo show still haven’t got the message. Hands off the funding and support for junior sports in Canberra! Gordon Ramsay - Media Release 22 August 2018 - Strengthening the community contributions scheme. These changes will be informed by caref...ul consideration of what the objectives of the scheme are, and who it should benefit. We must seriously consider whether sports clubs paying for their own operating costs would be better funded by revenue from outside the amount dedicated to supporting the community. It appears they want to have different rules for Sports clubs vrs clubs run by Unions or the Labor Party. The Community Contribution Scheme is supposed to support the Primary Purpose of the Club. Basically, the primary purpose is the reason the club exists. Clubs are mandated by their members and constitution to support this purpose. Obviously this varies depending on the club. The Hellenic Club (Cultural), Vikings (Sport), The Tradies (Unions) and Canberra Labor Club (The Labor Party). It would seem the Government wants to set different rules depending on who supports the ACT Labor Party. Obvious one is the Canberra Labor Club, say no more. However, the Tradies Club (CFMEU) through their own charity (CCWACT) spent money on 2016 election on advertisements and other campaign material for the benefit of the ACT Labor Party. Not that the CFMEU and Labor Party are connected? I believe the health of our youth and juniors sports in the ACT is more important than unions and who’s going to fund the ACT Labor Party at the next election. https://www.canberratimes.com.au//political-parties-spend-

21.01.2022 We finally got a response to the e-petition. https://epetitions.act.gov.au/Re/Pet%2015-18%20Response.pdf As expected it's a load of fluff from Ramsay, that doesn't address the actual request made in the petition! (see below) Your petitioners, therefore, request the Assembly to call upon the ACT Government to:... engage in a comprehensive consultation on this proposal with all stakeholders, including clubs, junior sporting teams, charities and community groups; commission a report into the social value of the ACT’s clubs and the community groups that they currently support, similar to Latrobe University’s ‘Value of a Community Football Club’ report; and provide to all stakeholders and the public a thorough economic analysis of diverting any portion of community contributions to a centrally administered fund, including impacts on current recipients of community contributions and the overhead costs associated with the operation of a centrally administered fund. https://epetitions.act.gov.au/Re/Pet%2015-18%20Response.pdf

17.01.2022 UPDATE 28/08/2018 The lack of consultation is now over, and Barr has ignored Canberrans and the call for proper community consultation. The good news is that the Government, embarrassed by the level of community anger, have decided to allow our clubs to continue to administer their minimum 8% of gaming revenue as a community contribution. However, the Government (Barr) has announced that he will increase that regulated level and siphon it away to a central fund, his Chief M...inisters Charitable Fund. How much? We don't know yet! https://stopbarr.com.au//Update-on-Community-Clubs-Contrib

16.01.2022 Well, Barr didn't get the lot. Clubs will still have control over where 90% of the contributions go. He has increased the contribution to 8.8% even though the clubs were already contributing over 12% back into the community. Of the extra 0.8%, 0.4% ($400,000) is going to be used to fund the management and running of his vanity project The Chief Ministers Charitable Fund. The other 0.4% is going to more research into gambling harm.

13.01.2022 1225 Canberrans respectfully asked Gordon Ramsay to reconsider the changes to the Clubs Community Contributions scheme. And to genuinely consult with all stakeh...olders. Those people have officially now been ignored.
