24.01.2022 Happy Monday everyone! Every day, we see that words have the power to hurt, to divide and to marginalise. But here, at Stories with Impact, we believe that we can use words to make the world a little bit better.... That's why our services are targeted for those who are working hard every day to make this place a little kinder, and more just for everyone. Instead of being saddened by negativity, we choose to be inspired by our clients - the justice warriors, NGOs, not-for-profit organisations. Thank you for all the work you do!

23.01.2022 How do you stay in the beginner's mindset and continue learning? We personally love using Lynda.com to continue learning the latest design, storytelling and writing skills + techniques

21.01.2022 Meet Yoga, our very first Social Impact Superhero. Yoga is the founder of Voice of Singapore's Invisible Hands, a wonderful community project that provides a platform for the voices of Singapore's domestic workers and a place to share their literary writings. Voice of Singapore's Invisible Hands does this by providing English and creative writing workshops on a weekly basis to the many domestic workers in Singapore - and, in great news, these writings have been recently colle...cted and published in a book (congrats!). We had the pleasure of learning more about Yoga's journey recently, and we are excited to share his story of growth and social impact with you. You can check out the full interview online (https://www.storieswithimpact.com.au//meet-yoga-founder-of) or learn more about Voice of Singapore's Invisible Hands on their facebook page.

19.01.2022 Sustainable and effective social change can only happen when stakeholders are consulted, engaged and empowered. First, have you identified who your stakeholders are? A stakeholder map is a great way to do this. Take a big piece of butcher paper and write down who your main stakeholders are, their level of power in enacting the social change and how interested they are in your cause. Ask yourself: how can you empower these stakeholders to become involved in your project and the social change process? Maybe it’s including more participatory-based evaluation processes of your programs where stakeholders have a voice? Maybe it’s inviting stakeholders to share their stories of change in their own voice on your social media channels? We'd love to hear what methods you use to empower your stakeholders

18.01.2022 Why not make your morning cup of coffee count? This morning Ori and I got our coffee at Sibling by Kinfolk and not only was it delicious, but we are stoked (look at Ori's face!!) that our purchase also counts towards making positive social change. Each year, profits from Sibling and Kinfolk Cafe are distributed to two partner charities - this year they are supporting Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) and Cathy Freeman Foundation who both do really great work ... Sibling Cafe have only just opened so go along and show support if you can

16.01.2022 Happy Monday, you beautiful people!

15.01.2022 Happy Monday beautiful people. It can be easy to get lost in a whirl of cynicism where we believe that the world's problems are too big for us to solve. But we all matter and we can all make an impact. ... How can you use your words, your stories and your language to make a small ripple around you and create a more inclusive and compassionate space for every one? Here are some suggestions on how to be more compassionate towards yourself and others (we'd love to hear yours too): + say hello to people in your neighbourhood - it might make their day! and it will create a sense of belonging and community around you. + write a letter to your local councillor about something you'd like to see change in your neighbourhood, include suggestions and some positive things that you are proud of + reach out to friends and family and ask them how they are going with genuine concern. Listen fully when they talk to you. What do you do to cultivate compassion within yourself and your community?

14.01.2022 #3 Celebrate your champions Champions are everywhere. From social change activists in local community organisation to your next door neighbour who starts a neighbourhood co-op, it’s always inspiring to hear a story about someone in our community doing social good. So why not use your social media channels to #celebrateyourchampions? Share their story with your online community and inspire a ripple of change to spread even further.

14.01.2022 Whether you’re a community organisation, or an individual who's doing some work in the social change space, it’s important to cultivate your own authentic voice to connect with your community. What does your voice sound like? Is it happy, fun and light? Or is it serious and thought-provoking? On a personal note, my partner and I recently got a Koala mattress, and we think their branding and voice they use in their comms is really on point. It's clear, approachable, and friendly. Here's a great article about their creative marketing approach: https://gearsi.de/koala-mattress-creative-marketing/

12.01.2022 ....and we're back!!! Hope you social good warriors had a wonderful start to the new year, and are getting stuck into some exciting projects for the year. We've been a little quiet with an exciting relocation in the works to regional Victoria (hello Echuca, Victoria!), but we can't wait to share some inspiring stories with you this year. ... 11.01.2022 #4 Encourage participation Participation is at the core of any social change initiative - without other people, you’ll be left fighting for change alone. That’s why It is SO important to encourage participation within your online community, your team, your volunteers and your partners. By opening up a genuine conversation with your stakeholders, and really listening to what they are feeling and thinking, you can learn so many things that will help you on your journey. What different ways are you using to encourage participation in your online community?

11.01.2022 Stories grab our attention and make us listen. What's a recent story you've heard that's sparked your attention and made you pay attention? Share it with us below! We personally love the storytelling in the recent Gilette ad, speaking to the impact of toxic masculinity Have a wonderful Monday you beautiful people!

10.01.2022 How do YOU connect with your community? We think COMMUNITY is so important, and we'd love to hear experiences of building a community both online and offline

08.01.2022 I recently watched "The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind", which was a brilliant and inspirational true-story of a Malawian teenager who invents a wind-turbine to save his community, family and friends, during a period of severe drought and famine. It is a powerful example of storytelling that bring us to Malawi in the early 2000s , and I definitely recommend a watch! To me, it shows very clearly how we can be inspired by the stories we come in contact with. What story has transported you to another place recently? Share below

07.01.2022 Do you know a change-maker who is making your community a better place? Do you know someone who is fighting hard to make changes in your community or volunteering their time at a local organisation? We'd love to speak to them! Tag your social impact superheroes below, or send us a message to tell us more about them :) We'd love to interview them and start featuring more inspiring social impact superheroes on this page!

05.01.2022 Happy Monday beautiful people Good luck gently shaking the world this week!

04.01.2022 Stories with Impact Tip #2 Visuals are everything Stories can be told in many ways. In our fast-moving society, however, images have the power to make people stop and focus. On social media, the right image has the power to grab people’s attention as they scroll through all the noise, inviting them to read more of your words and listen to your story. Think Humans of New York. These beautiful, raw images draw in people from all over the world, and are able to give voice to a diversity of human stories. How are you using your images? Are they helping you tell your story?

03.01.2022 Do you need help telling your "why"? Do you want a clearer, and more impactful story that tells the world who you are and why you do what you do? At Stories with Impact, we provide a range of affordable writing services and workshops to support you in your storytelling journey, including traditional communication services such as copywriting, social media content creation and management, as well as the facilitation of more creative and participatory storytelling projects such as PhotoVoice, digital storytelling and writing workshops. Contact us today to see how we can work together. Let's chat over a (virtual) cup of coffee or in person.

03.01.2022 Today we took our love for social impact to the streets of Melbourne to visit one of the city's most loved social enterprises. STREAT is a wonderful cafe/bakery/coffeeroaster/catering business which uses its profits to give young people facing disadvantage a helping hand. We love the work you do STREAT and can't wait to see you again.

01.01.2022 Happy Monday, social change warriors keep doing those good things!
