16.01.2022 Christmas is on the horizon which means it’s time dust off the Michael Bublé CD While the festive season spikes sales in the retail world; shopping centres become busier, cafes and restaurants are booked out, the supermarket becomes a place of chaos...did you know that for many vintage businesses sales can actually slow down? Over the years we’ve noticed an obvious decline in sales this time of year and we’ve had chats with many of our fellow vintage businesses who have d...eclared a similar experience. Things seem to quieten down because people are heading to Westfield to get all of their shopping done in one place. It’s understandable! Shopping second-hand for gifts isn’t for everyone; if you’re a treasure hunting enthusiast, your Uncle Barry may not feel the same way about the idea of a used present. That’s ok though, no worries! There are plenty of other ways you can incorporate vintage into the spirit of Christmas. Here’s some ideas... Wear a fabulous vintage outfit Christmas Day and for any events you have coming up Find second-hand tableware (plates, glasses, servingware etc) Thrift table linen (tablecloths and napkins) Source your Christmas decorations from op shops Buy used cook books for recipe ideas Use vintage fabric or scarves to wrap gifts in Need some activities to keep the family occupied over the holidays? Board games and puzzles from the op shop are always fun Make your own hampers to gift to others and use baskets sourced from second-hand stores Vinyl records and cds to play on Christmas Day If you have guests staying at your house over the holidays and need extra bed linen, consider looking for fun and colourful vintage sheets, pilllow cases and quilt covers It’s nice to display flowers around your home during this season. 07.01.2022 We got a new couch delivered today! Branko and I dont purchase many things brand new (99% of our home is second-hand or vintage) so this is a pretty big deal for us. Im not usually a fussy person at all, in fact I can often be quite casual in my decisions. But I learnt from my past mistake of buying the wrong couch when we first moved into our home, it fit but only kind of, and it made the space feel dark and cramped. After five years I was ready to choose something that f...elt better in the space, especially now that I worked from home. This time there was no rushing into it! I took the time to think about exactly what I wanted in a couch; it had to be something wide because I love sitting with my legs crossed and taking naps, it also had to be as comfortable as a cloud and light in colour, as well as fit within a very specific measurement. Not too much to ask for right? Actually, thinking about all these details made it much easier to find the right one. Im excited to watch Netflix tonight and feel SO comfy and cosy while its raining outside Oh yeah and thats a panther statue table!!! Apparently one of only six that were brought into Australia in the 1970s. @artisticlifesyle called me the The Panther Lady the other day and Im stoked to be known as that

07.01.2022 Today I bought some more flowers for our garden and Im chuffed My gardening style is letting plants do their thing. I enjoy letting daisy bushes self seed wherever they decide to pop up and watch them become huge overgrown masses of blooms. No neatly trimmed hedges or flawless topiaries to see here (I dont dislike them, Im just far too lazy for that). Give me a rambling cottage garden with flowers of every colour; if it attracts birds and beneficial insects, its good in my books how would you describe your gardening style? P.S. I hope youre not sick of the wisteria spam that Ive been sharing in our stories this week
