25.01.2022 When your hosts roll on in to small country towns, they have one thing on their mind: to hunt down the locals. One of the best parts about the Storytowns podcasts is that you'll hear about all the hidden gems of the town straight from those who know best. We capture the most unexpected of moments, whether we bump into the famous local bloke that every man and his dog knows, or the lady who is a fifth-generation resident and pillar of local knowledge and history. It's amazing what you uncover when you just get out there and have a yarn. https://storytowns.com.au/

24.01.2022 This is not your average shearing shed. It was astonishingly constructed solely from flattened kerosine egg tins during World War II. Facing wartime struggles, a couple of resourceful locals got creative and turned a pile of scraps into building materials. These clever individuals were like the progressive wizards of their generation because at this point in time, the importance of recycling was not yet recognised. The shed is older than half a century and impressively still stands today. You can find this man-made beauty South of Woomelang, which is near a Silo Art stop in the country town of Lascelles. Visitors are even welcome to step inside for a closer look at the craftsmanship! Tune in here: http://storytowns.com.au/silo/

Tune into the Nullawil Podcast here: http://storytowns.com.au/silo/ Jimmy is about 6 years old and has half a tail due to a pretty bad infection he had as a young boy. When we asked him how he felt about being on the silo he didn’t give us much, but he has completely stolen our hearts. Jimmy can be found in the small town of Nullawil in the Wimmera Mallee region. Local born, bred and raised Nullawillian Heath Pollington told us that kelpies are pretty special to the area. Every man around town has got a kelpie. All the farmers run sheep around here, and a kelpie is really as good as 3 men out in the paddock. Go Jimmy you good thing! Silo Art Trail

02.01.2022 As you are aware, we love stories & we love small towns. This is largely because the locals & business owners within regional communities have a tendency to be legends. Some of our favourite memories at Storytowns HQ include buying massive $1 bags of lollies from the nice lady at the general store, or getting extra potato cakes thrown in from the cool guy at the fish n chip shop. Local heroes like this are so giving, & they are always happy to share their stories too. It's time to celebrate the roots of Australia - get out there & show support! Do you have a nostalgic memory from a small country town? Share it below!
