08.01.2022 Dealing with appliances is our 'bread and butter'. Every day we hear your stories about your appliances. When we think of household appliances, we only think of them being used in our homes. In 2014, two young friends from Queensland came up with an innovative idea to use washing machines in a very different way. Nicholas Marchesi and Lucas Patchett, were intent on tackling the global problem of homelessness. They founded a successful not-for-profit organisation called Orange... Sky. They put two washing machines and two dryers in the back of a van and drove around washing and drying clothes for the homeless. What started as an idea to improve hygiene standards and restore dignity to people doing it tough has evolved into something much bigger and more powerful. They're on a mission to help positively connect the 116,000 Australians who are experiencing homelessness. In 2016, Nicholas and Lucas jointly won the Young Australian of the Year Award. Orange Sky, we salute you. 01.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. It's our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, "Are you OK?" if someone in your world is struggling with life's ups and downs. The circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. In the lead-up to R U OK?Day we’ll help Australians know what to say when someone says they’re not OK an...d guide them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. Please click on the website below to get more information on how you can take action today. https://www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-day https://www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-day
