19.01.2022 Right now people need Vinnies’ support more than ever, which is why this year we’re on board for #GivingTuesday. 15.01.2022 This special banner was presented to Pastor and Elder Ossie Cruse yesterday at the Keeping Place Jigamy by a 6 th grade class representing the whole Lumen schoo...l. It illustrates the totem black ducks from indigenous mob to the north of our shire, and the four school houses representing light, waters, mountains, and people. The banner evolved from a special pre NAIDOC day at LCCC run by the Lumen SJA to discuss and support the Uluru statement from the heart. The second photo represents the heart and signifying unity and inclusion. Congratulations to the Whole of Lumen - all students and staff are signatories of this banner. SJA members hope all consider the 2020 NAIDOC theme Always was - Always will be Celebrating Continuous Culture

15.01.2022 Vinnies Do-Good Gifts are a win-win for Christmas! Select a gift for someone in need to receive on behalf of your loved one and they receive an e-card whilst someone receives crucial support. Plus Vinnies Do-Good Gifts are tax deductible.

12.01.2022 Today, on the first Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Hope, in remembrance of the Prophet Isaiah, who first foretold the birth of Christ. The candle is a symbol of God's love and forgiveness and represents the hope experienced by many anticipating the birth of Jesus.

05.01.2022 SENIOR RETREAT 2020 Congratulations to all the students who began their HSC year with a wonderful retreat experience at the Sapphire Turf Club a few weeks ago.... Team bonding, positive psychology and a bit of horseplay kept everyone entertained on the first day with A Pinch of Yum keeping us physically nourished with lots of delicious, individually packed delights. The second day was more reflective with a focus on gratitude, an opportunity for self-examination through Reconciliation and a Mass prepared by the students. The final day culminated with a Magical Mystery Tour, which, after a bit of misdirection took us to part of the Bundian Way, from Corcora Beach to Quarantine Bay. Kye Musgrove-Overend shared some insights into the spiritualities of the local Aboriginal communities before students were sent off in groups to answer a variety of questions and challenges. Pizza provided by Sapphire Coast Eats was thoroughly enjoyed just as the skies opened and the rain drenched our thirsty land. We are especially grateful to the Turf Club for the gracious way in which they hosted us. Special thanks to Eileen Reckord and our youth minister, Jess Newell for organising such a fantastic opportunity, especially given the challenges of finding a venue that would make this retreat a significant moment in the lives of the Class of 2021.

02.01.2022 Year 7 STEM students at Lumen Christi have been hard at work building solar lights for children living in energy poverty. It is all a part of the SolarBuddy pro...gram that aims to help children study after dusk and improve their education outcomes. We extend our deepest gratitude to Tathra Hotel and the Clubs Grants scheme in supporting the SolarBuddy program. We are also grateful to Rotary Club of Merimbula for liaising with us and sending those lights where they need to go. Our local community recognise the generosity of families in PNG who reached out to us and we want to continue that bond of friendship forged through a fiery and terrifying summer and a difficult year.
