06.01.2022 Fr John Sebastian OMI will lead today's Mass, with music from Eva-Marie Middleton - Singer (soprano), Brent Grapes (trumpet) and Dominic Perissinotto - Pipe Organ Plus (organist and director of music). The month of November is also known as the Month of Remembrance, where we reflect on the lives of our loved ones who have gone before us to enjoy their eternal life. This coming Wednesday, the 11th of November, we commemorate Remembrance Day. It is our tradition at the Basilica... of St Patrick that on the Sunday before we pray for our armed forces who have given their lives defending our country. Today we will present music especially written for this theme. The Mass setting is For the Fallen by Christopher Willcock, who also wrote the Communion piece We Will Remember Them. The newly composed Gloria by Eva-Marie Middleton is based on this piece. At the end of Mass, instead of the usual hymn and organ voluntary, Brent and Dominic will play At the Going Down of the Sun by Brenton Broadstock.
