24.01.2022 Today (26 November 2020) is Thanksgiving in America and, while we understand that not many members of our College community observe the holiday, we think that it’s as good excuse as any to remember to give thanks for all of the blessings we have here at St Peters. As we approach the last week of Term 4, we’d like to say thank you to all of our students, teachers, staff and familiesyou are the reason St Peters is such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

22.01.2022 Today we crowned our Year 11 ‘Prosthetic Hand’ Champions for 2020! Combining the anatomical knowledge of a Biology student and the motion and force knowledge of a Physics student, Team 2 where able to construct a hand that picked up sticks and gave multiple hand signals. An honourable mention must go to all the other teams in the classthe improvements from prototype to final hand model proved your understanding of how joints and tendons all work together in the human hand. Well done Year 11. (Music: https://www.bensound.com)
21.01.2022 As part of our Unit of Inquiry ‘How the World Works’, Year 6 students enjoyed an excursion to Bayside Park, Manly. The day’s program is run by the Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre. The students adopt the role of Environmental Managers and explore up to three different marine environments to discover how living things are affected by the physical environment and how human activity impacts upon this. They focus on the impact of microplastics on marine organisms and the interconnection between the organisms themselves. They will observe and catalogue marine debris, investigating possible impacts of this on these marine environments.

19.01.2022 Changes are happening at St Peters! Last week the demolition of Luther House really got underway, making room for the Learning & Innovation Centre. While many of you won’t come back to the College until the commencement of the 2021 School Year, we wanted to advise those that will of an important road closure. Rainforest Drive has now closed. It will remain closed for the duration of the project (extending into Term 1, 2021). Should you need to come onto campus for holiday Sport clinics, swimming training or events like Code Camp, please be mindful of the closure and keep an eye out for the signs to assist you in your detours.
19.01.2022 Congratulations to the 2020 Years 10-12 recipients of Awards and Scholarships who were acknowledged at today's annual Scholars Assembly. They were joined, and supported, by peers, family and friends in the PAC before Old Scholars made their way to the Academic Hub to place their names on the 'wall of fame'. Congratulations students, past and present!
19.01.2022 Can you believe it’s already been a week since our 2020 Year 12s left the College for the final time? Since graduating, they’ve continued to leave a mark on the wider community and have already made news headlines for the way they’ve been conducting themselves at the coast. We could not be prouder and look forward to hearing more about what they get up to in the future. Seniors of 2020, we wish you all the best as you begin to navigate life after high school. Go Saints! #FlashbackFriday St Peters Lutheran College Boarding SPOSA St Peters Old Scholars Association (Music: https://www.bensound.com)
19.01.2022 Congratulations to James H for being awarded the inaugural Ray Young perpetual trophy for Robotics. We award this trophy for commitment and participation in our Robotics program. Thanks to all the Robotics students for their hard work and curiosity this year. We’re looking forward to more competitions and fun activities in Robotics next year! Students from Years 5-12 are invited to join in.
19.01.2022 This year, many students have been involved in a number of fundraising experiences for Guide Dogs Qld. From food stalls, raffle tickets and adopt-a-puppy toys, to some students made collars for the pups in the breeding centre. The aim this year was to raise some money and help serve others in the breeding centre by assisting pups in their journey to become Guide Dogs. Yesterday, Mrs Benfield and students made a formal presentation to Guide Dogs Queensland - with puppy 'Yarrow' - having raise $695 over the course of the year. Thank you to everyone for supporting us with our fundraising this year.

18.01.2022 This morning our Year 10 Business and Technology students took part in an Innovation Workshop in the Performing Arts Centre’s Theatrette. The workshop focused on entrepreneurship, start-up businesses and how to persevere with innovative ideas despite most of the subject matter being unknown. Keynote speaker, Peter Laurie (Entrepreneur in Residence, UQ Business School), captivated our budding innovators and fuelled them to really engage with the panel of experts at the end. Th...e panel included Katrina Lawrence (Regional Sales Director, DELL Technologies), Simon Newcomb (Partner/Technology & Intellectual Property Lawyer, Clayton Utz), Amanda Rablin (eLearning Coordinator, St Peters) and Glen Richards (Chairman, Healthia Ltd and People Infrastructure Ltd; Panel Member, Shark Tank - Australia). It was an incredible line-up and we’re extremely grateful they gave our students their time. See more
15.01.2022 This afternoon, we’re flashing back to the end of the QGSSSA Junior Softball competition earlier in Term 4. The season was mixed, with stormy, wet weather cancelling two game days. 14.01.2022 Our Year 6 students enjoyed unwinding with a picnic in the Thomas Park Bougainvillea Gardens yesterdaythe perfect way to celebrate their last days in the Primary Years. This tradition, of celebration and play, has been in place for several years now and we were glad we could keep it up despite the pandemic this year. Students dressed in group themes, enjoyed a COVID-Safe picnic and had the opportunity to run around or kick a ball in the park. A lot of fun was had by all!
14.01.2022 This year, St Peters entered three teams (one U17s and two U15s) in the Brisbane Basketball Inc. (BBI) competition. This was the first time that College has participated in the local competition and it provided an opportunity for students to extend their Basketball season and further develop their skills. Our teams were very competitive and came away with two Premierships for their efforts. All players showed great commitment to their sport and each other throughout the club season and should be very proud of themselves. Thank you to Head Coach, Orhan Memedovski, and the team coaches for giving up their time to run the program. #GoSaints!
