23.01.2022 Some of our students wanted to reach out and say Happy Father's Day! To all the dads, grandads, and wonderful carers in our lives, we hope you all have a special day.
21.01.2022 Our Primary Principal Awards celebrate a personal achievement for individual students. Many times it stems from the goals the students or teachers have developed for a learning or social area with the student showing ‘Plus Ultra’ more and beyond. Students are also acknowledged for showing the school values of care, dignity and respect which are expectations of each student. It is important for our Primary community to share in the award presentations during out Assemblies, so they can celebrate with the awardees but also see good role models in learning and social achievements throughout the year. We will be continually updating this album.
20.01.2022 We wish all our students the best over the coming days with exam and assessment we know you're all working hard. Our Year 12 Vice-Captain Khushi P. has sent through some helpful study tips.
19.01.2022 It was a spectacular night for our Year 12 cohort. They arrived in limousines, the family car, sports cars and even a party hummer. Every student arrived in unique style and were greeted by a select group of teachers ready to clap them through to the Hillstone venue. The girls did not disappoint as they took full advantage of the night with glitz, glamour and grace. The boys stepped up and took mens' fashion to a whole new level with check suits, striking contrasts and dashes... of vibrant colour. Their smiles lit up the night as they stepped out of their cars and, even though we couldn't have friends and family at the event, we live streamed the arrivals to family across the world. Thanks to Mrs Sarah J. for some fun interviews during the night. Through the night students were entertained with some fantastic speeches and we had Mike the magician entertaining us all with some logic-defying fabulous magic tricks. A huge thank you again to all the teachers and staff involved for bringing this incredible event together. Oh what a night! See more
18.01.2022 A little #flashmob fun on the concourse
18.01.2022 Four students (Yr 6 and Yr 9) from St Peters Springfield were invited to a Learning Coalition event at Springfield Central State School. It was a LEGO challenge working in teams with other local school students. Andrew and Damien from the LEGO Masters Australia 2020 worked with the teams introducing them to LEGO techniques as well as empowering them to create a story. The event helped students build capabilities to be creative and use technical skills when building with LEG...O. Student reflections: Isabelle W. enjoyed the whole experience where the students were put into teams and had to create an animal and then build its habitat ensuring the LEGO mat showed a story once both were in place. She said that Damien and Andrew gave them feedback on their creations and encouraged them to improve as they worked towards the final scene. It was a really fun day. Cameron said he most enjoyed learning about the techniques, such as a technique called S.N.O.T which stands for Studs Never On Top. 'How you do this technique?' you may be thinking... You make a square or rectangle with studs all over it then you put smooth pieces all over it. It then becomes smooth and looks a lot more pleasing. Another skill I learnt was how to make bushes. First you take a lego green or red cap then you put a blank lego head underneath it which makes it look like a flower or a bush. The last skill I learnt was to make interactive pieces in your builds like moveable legs and arms, using connector pieces, or using light up feature using lego lights Benafsheh G. enjoyed tackling the challenges they set and spending time with friends. She said one thing she learnt was to build Lego by building a frame and then adding the colours required. Indianna had an absolutely amazing time where she learnt about building LEGO from her imagination and working in a team. She said she always builds LEGO on her own so working with others was amazing.
18.01.2022 ChessMates has been providing regular after school chess lessons for our students over the past few years. During Term 3 they gave a hands on tutorial to each Year 3-6 class. Playing the game of Chess on a regular basis right from childhood improves the learning, thinking, analytical power, and decision-making ability of the child. Chess encourages the child to learn how to strategise aspects of the game and life. In addition, a child can also learn the importance of foresight, and planning. ChessMates information will be sent to our Primary families for Term 4 enrolment.
17.01.2022 Many of our students have been on bowling excursions to celebrate the end of term. Thank you to teachers and staff for their organisation - it’s a great way to have fun with friends.

Gabrielle H. completed a Certificate 2 in Sport and Recreation as well as a Certificate 3 in Fitness. Emma W. completed a Certificate 3 in Business. All three have successfully completed these courses and qualifications alongside their academic programs and while maintaining their ATAR eligibilities.

13.01.2022 The Senior French Dinner has become a tradition to celebrate together the end of almost six years (or in the case of founding student, Renieke V, 13 years) of French study. The Year 12 French class, Madame Knowles and Madame Morgan went to La Belle Vie Bistro & Bar in Bardon. The servers were attentive and the meals were fantastic, students expanded their culinary tastes and indulged in goats cheese (fromage de chèvre) and les moules (mussels). The plats principaux (main courses), met with everyones approval, whether it was the canard (duck) or the croziflette (a cheesy pasta-based meal), or ratatouille. Deserts were devoured, leaving both the tarte tatin and the crème brûlée people satisfied. It has been an absolute privilege to teach each one of these marvellous young people. I wish you all a truly belle vie.

09.01.2022 A quick reflection on where the Three Musketeers are with their 1,000 km week ride to raise money for Westside Community Care. Day 3 provided some great picture opportunities with the best one being Bailey cooling off in a local creek, or was he washing his bike? The weather wasn't kind as it was hot and humid and Day 3's 156 km ride was achieved at a nice and manageable 26km/h. The trio have travelled approximately 481 km (approximately since Monday Thursday's count not in...cluded). Kilometres to go and counting down to 1-0-0-0. Follow their trials, tribulations and updates. Don't forget it's for a great cause as well. https://give.everydayhero.com/au/1000kms-for-1000-reasons-1 #communityservice #communitydevelopment #cyclelife #awarenessmatters Greater Springfield Giant Ipswich Charis Mullen MP - State Member for Jordan Councillor Nicole Jonic - Ipswich Division 2
09.01.2022 In their Term Four Science unit, Year 5 students explored different plant and animal adaptations that allow them to survive and thrive within their habitat. Through hands-on experiments, they investigated how having larger ears help to cool desert animals, while having smaller leaves reduces water loss in desert plants. Students were fascinated by the antics of the mimic octopus, which is known to imitate fifteen different species! As a culmination to the unit, students selected and painted a pattern found on an animal. They then painted the same pattern on their hand, which camouflaged within the background. A fun end to a fascinating unit of work!
09.01.2022 Some wonderful pictures from our Lower Primary Track and Field Carnival held during Term 3. It was a fantastic day for our Prep to Year 3 students to show their house spirit and have some fun. Thank you again to Mr Kelly, Prep & Primary teachers and staff for their help and organisation during the day. A special thank you to our Year 6 students for helping with the carnival, they organised students, helped them throughout the day, encouraged and supported them. They showed true Plus Ultra attitude and helped everyone have an amazing day.

08.01.2022 It has become an annual tradition to cook pancakes for Year 12 students as a gesture of support and encouragement. Last Thursday was the final school day before Year 12 Mock Exams so this was the perfect time to express the goodwill of our community to them in a flat, round, sweet and tasty form. Nearly everyone loves a pancake and our Year 12s are no exception. Who doesnt feel better after a pancake or two?! Thank you to the St Peters Springfield Parents & Friends Association for supporting this event. God bless the Year 12s as they do their Mock Exams and as they prepare for the final External Exams next term.

06.01.2022 Our Year 2 students took part in a wonderful Wildlife Encounter incursion held by Wild Rangers Wildlife Encounters. The program, presented by Dionne Rosenbaum, links with the National Australian Curriculum and covered a range of topics including: Australian animals endangered species habitats and adaptations... Students had the opportunity for hands-on learning and interacted with some of Australias wonderful and unique animals: Squirrel Glider Long Neck Turtle Carpet Python Tawny Frogmouth Saltwater Crocodile Blue Tongue Lizard I love educating children on looking after our habitats, our environment and our wildlife. I think by students touching the animals and seeing them up close it creates that element of empathy for the animals, says Dionne. Thank you to Dionne, the incursion was amazing and the students learnt a great deal about our wildlife and the environment. Greater Springfield

05.01.2022 For our special end of Term 3 celebrations, Prep students came to school with their favourite soft toy. There were lots of conversations as we introduced our bears and looked for similarities and differences. In our literacy lessons we also read many books about bears throughout the week. In the morning we were very surprised that our bears went missing! So we went on a bear hunt, we finally found our bears in Mr Schmidt and Mrs West-McInnes office! For our picnic we sat together and ate special treats. We took our bears to all of our lessons and played games and sang songs. It was a fantastic day!

05.01.2022 Last week we celebrated National Science Week, Australia's annual celebration of science and technology. It is an exciting time at St Peters when we acknowledge the contributions of Australian scientists and encourage our students to develop an innovative and inquiring mindset, as they use scientific understanding to pursue solutions to real-world problems. Our Preps explored the effects of the forces push and pull. At the beginning of the inquiry, the Preps investigated how different animals and objects move. They also read 'The Enormous Turnip' and re-enacted the story by trying to pull the turnip out. The Preps used this understanding to explore, design and create objects that can be pushed or pulled.
04.01.2022 They're not famous directors or producers, they worked without a Hollywood budget or a cast of thousands! Our wonderful Prep teachers, and Prep assistants, worked with our Prep students to bring together the 2020 Prep Christmas play with just an iPhone and a gimbal! Thank you to staff for organising many hours of rehearsal, learning lines, singing, choreography, costume fittings, and filming with our student stars. The PlayA Bundle of Joy is the Christmas Story, the birth of Jesus, following the journey of a grumpy donkey called Grumble. We are sure all of our parents and St Peters Springfield families will enjoy the production. Merry Christmas! Relax, settle in and enjoy the play! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dujDrrdbO8Q
04.01.2022 Our students who are participating in The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Australia joined our St Peters Lutheran College Indooroopilly students in early December.
