18.01.2022 Dear College Community, Please feel free to watch previous A Christmas Pilgrimage stops that showcase STUDENTS from St Peter’s and our Diocese of Broken Bay! They are a fantastic and engaging opportunity this Advent and we see such talent from our student’s and fellow students and staff from Broken Bay Diocese. It brings me great joy to be able to share with you our weekend stops for A Christmas Pilgrimage... In Pilgrimage Stop 5: The Donkey a noble steed, we are introduced to a character, Bo from the movie The Star (full movie available on click view) who teaches us about prayer and our Mother Mary, and how we should say yes to God’s plan. We then move into a lovely Christmas Carol from Our Lady of the Rosary, The Entrance, and then our prayer and response. In Pilgrimage Stop 6: The Road to Bethlehem, we hear a reflection about the road to Bethlehem from Gemma at St Patrick’s East Gosford with fantastic performance of the reflection by St Leo’s students. After this reflection and dramatisation we hear from Jaimi the Youth Minister at St Patrick’s East Gosford about pilgrimage, why is it important for our relationship with Jesus and why the Nativity is the original pilgrimage. Our popular What I love about Christmas segment returns with youth around our Diocese giving us great insights into our loves of Christmas. After this we have the important prayer call and response (please pray along together with us) and to conclude stop six a beautiful Christmas Carol Little Town of Bethlehem by Kate Busby and sung by St John Fisher, Tumbi Umbi. (With some impressive Christmas hats too!) There are two ways to access our two pilgrimage stops this weekend below. Please feel free to share with school and parish communities and with loved ones! 10.01.2022 Last Friday, 13th November, the Senior Visual Arts students travelled by train for our Art Gallery Excursion to Sydney. The girls visited the AGNSW, Museum of Contemporary Art and a smaller independent gallery called the White Rabbit Gallery. The art students were very fortunate to witness a ‘behind the scenes’ of a new exhibition being installed by the AGNSW Curation Team. This is an area of study within the HSC Visual Arts Course as we look at Art Curation and Art Critics. ...To have the opportunity to engage with a Curator of the gallery and ask many questions was very exciting. The girls explored traditional art works, contemporary works by Australian and Asian artists, a street art installation and an exhibition that explored the theme of COVID-19. A highlight of the day was an art installation at the White Rabbit Gallery, where the girls were able to immerse themselves in a beautiful tunnel of handmade rice paper for a sensory experience. The students enjoyed their day and hopefully are now inspired with new and exciting ideas for the development of their Body of Work. See more
