25.01.2022 What have we been doing at SELC? We have less children so are using extra educators in cleaning duties. We clean with the Enjo system as per normal & have added disinfectant during the viral outbreak. Every item in every room has been cleaned as per Dept of Health guidelines and our guide of Staying Healthy in Childcare. We are cleaning and disinfecting door handles and gates every 2 hours. And yay - the babies and toddlers room floors are getting resealed this weekend!!!... Press the link to see video:

24.01.2022 Please support our new recycling project. We are collecting bread tags. These will be used by Transmutation who turn them into pots, and pay a benefit to Aussie Breadtags for Wheelchairs who buy wheelchairs for people in South Africa. We are teaching children to recycle and help others. A container is on our plant stall at the gate for community use also.

22.01.2022 Community Consultation - Nature Play Block and Garden Project. Stradbroke Early Learning Centre, a not-for-profit organization, has been negotiating for some years to gain access to the land locked block adjacent to our center for educational purposes. The primary purpose of the proposed nature play area is to serve as a natural space for Stradbroke Early Learning Centre to access for the enhancement of the physical, social and cognitive development of the children, as well a...s to provide an appropriate space for learning about the environment and local culture. A secondary purpose includes welcoming community groups and members into the space, where friendships can be built and health and wellbeing promoted through nature play and cultural gardening. The nature play area and cultural garden will be fenced and accessible via the Stradbroke Early Learning Centre during center hours, for children’s learning. Public participation will be welcomed through planned programs with community, including on weekends when access will be available from the adjacent park area. 16.01.2022 Thanks everyone who has supported our Containers for Change Project so far. We are really grateful to community members who are volunteering to help sort and deliver containers. This is a fantastic help. If you are interested in being involved please contact Ngaire 34099093 or 0414816164. We have moved our Dunwich and Point Lookout trailers to new spots. See photos attached. For your interest we raise $500-600 each load. Thanks to Sealink for sponsoring our barge trip once per month.

16.01.2022 Local Matters Jars at Grill’d Stradbroke Early Learning Centre is excited to announce that we will be one (out of 3 groups) of the featured Community Groups at Victoria Point Grill’d for the month of August. The scheme is called Local Matters Jars and with every burger ordered, a Local Matters token is handed over for customers to drop into the jar of their choice. We hope you put your token in our (SELC) Local Matters Jar. This is just one of the ways our Centre is fundraising for our new Kindy Building. So, if you’re shopping at Victoria Point Shopping Centre, please stop in and buy a burger and support our fundraising efforts. Grill’d Victoria Point is located next to Elysium Lakeside.

10.01.2022 We needed a new rug in Kindy, so we’re making a denim rug with the children. We need more old jeans...preferably adult sized and with no holes. So far we’ve used 3 pairs and have about 40cm size. Please drop jeans to SELC and just hang over the front fence. They will be loved

05.01.2022 We have been doing lots of extra cleaning over the last few weeks. This mornings preparations include washing and disinfecting every gate handle and door knob. Parents please sanitise hands at the gate and then hand wash yours and your child’s hands on arrival before you do anything else. We know hand washing is far more effective at killing germs than sanitising and we all want to stay well! Thanks everyone!

02.01.2022 We are excited about our Containers for Change project. You may see out trailers in the community. One outside the Bowls Club at Point Lookout; one in Mitchell ...Cr, Dunwich and one at Flinders' Beach access. We will really appreciate community engagement and support in putting refundable containers -have 10c symbol on them - in the trailers. Refunded dollars will go towards our new building costs. We appreciate Stradbroke Ferries sponsorship to reduce costs of our barge fares when taking these trailers to the mainland for depositing. See more
