13.01.2022 An update from SRM: Due to the new Government restrictions in response to the COVID 19 outbreak, we have had to postpone our packing and distribution of our Easter hampers for the homeless. St Raphael's Mission is currently working with the Archdiocese to provide support in the near future to the isolated and struggling members of our community.... We would also like to inform you that we are still feeding the homeless while abiding by all Government restrictions, social distancing rules & constantly checking in with & updating the Council. As, such we have had to make some changes to our processes and the running of the service. This includes: - Limiting the number of volunteers to the bare minimum of 3 and ensuring they are 1.5 metres away from each other when serving; - Simplifying our food offering and pre-packaging all our food; - No longer serving tea & coffee; - Ensuring that the homeless individuals are 1.5 metres away from each other when in line; and - Ensuring the homeless individuals collect their package and leave immediately so no crowd gathers. If you would like to donate food (rolls or wraps), please contact us via our inbox or on 0404 323 868. We will update you once our normal service resumes and when we will be resuming the hamper packing. Stay safe & stay home. God bless you all SRM

13.01.2022 We have a few spots available to feed the homeless tonight. If you are free and would like to come, please inbox us. First in basis.

13.01.2022 While we may have been quiet on Facebook the last few months, we certainly have not been in real life. We informed you via the video update posted back in May that during the COVID pandemic, we were undertaking the following initiatives: - SRM Relief Packages... - International Student Support - Struggling Families Support We undertook these initiatives while continuing our weekly feed the homeless service which we modified in communication with Sydney City Council - Homelessness Unit to ensure our service was COVID Safe and abiding by social distancing regulations. You can hear more about how we have modified and continued this service by watching the video update posted in May. We would like to provide you with an update on these additional initiatives that have now concluded. Please find below a summary of the services provided including some verbatim's from our international students and photos of the initiatives. Thank you to all those who volunteered their time or contributed to these initiatives. You have made a huge difference in the lives of many who have struggled greatly during these unprecedented times. May God bless you a hundredfold. St Raphael's Mission

07.01.2022 Hello All As you know with COVID 19, St Raphael's Mission had to modify its feeding the homeless service and pre-package all food and close our volunteering opportunities. While we still have to continue with our modified service for the foreseeable future and abide by all COVID safe rules and regulations, we are happy to announce we can now open our volunteering opportunities again but with limited capacity.... We now have 2 options where volunteers can help out on Monday nights: Option 1: 2 volunteers can now come each Monday night to feed the homeless. Volunteers MUST wear a mask and gloves (which we will supply) for the duration of the service. Volunteer times for this service are: 7.15 pm to approximately 9.30pm. You must also be over the age of 18. Option 2: 2 volunteers can now help us on Monday evenings in pre-packing the food. This involves packing the meal, fruit and dessert into a plastic bag as well as packing the tea and coffee bags and anything else that is needed for the evening. Volunteer times for this service are from 6pm -7.15pm. Anyone can volunteer to do this part of the service. This is a great activity for your young children (Age 7 and up) to get involved in and learn about the importance of helping others as well as light up the alms-giving spark in them. Volunteers over the age of 12 MUST also wear a mask and gloves (which we will supply) for the duration of the service. Please note that we have reduced our volunteer numbers on Monday evenings from 12 people to 2 people. Please understand that we cannot schedule you in on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis as we need to be fair to all volunteers and give everyone the opportunity to volunteer. While we would love to have 12 volunteers come down as with our normal service, we have to work within these restrictions for now so that we are still allowed to operate. As soon as we can return to our normal service and increase our volunteer numbers, we will let you all know. We thank you in advance for your understanding. For now, if you would like to volunteer, please message us via facebook inbox or on 0404 323 868 stating whether you would like to volunteer for option 1 or 2 and we will respond with the next available date. God bless you all SRM
