21.01.2022 Tonight we had some very inspirinig speakers at our meeting. Ray Longmuir spoke about his journey with brain cancer and his plan to ride his motorcycle from Tas...mania's southern most tip to Scotland to raise money for the"Cure For Brain Cancer Foundation" He was supported by Benjamin Currie who will wear the B.C. logo on his helmet while competing in the British Motorcycle Championships. More about this soon!!! Our photo shows Lion Neville with Ben and Ray after the meeting. See more

19.01.2022 Ray Longmuir. Ray is a young man who unfortunately for him, acquired a lethal form of Brain Cancer while he was running his own electrical business. At diagnosis he was given 3 years to live but opted for open brain surgery, with all the risks that that entails. The operation was remarkable not only for the fact that he was awake and conversing with the surgeons, but that he insisted, after they told him that they had got all they could in the time allotted, that they keep g...oing as long as it took, to get it all. He then did all he could during recovery to aid himself. He is consequently in remission or as he puts it, the tumor is Stagnant. He is an inspiring young man in that as long as I’ve known him his attitude has been never say die and that while he is alive he will live life to the full. He has planned a motor cycle ride from the most Southern tip of Tasmania to the most Northern tip of Scotland, with a mate, to raise money for Cure For Brain Cancer in May 2019, provided the cancer does not return. He has also sponsored one of the most high profile riders in the British Super Bike Championships and Benjamin Currie will wear a helmet with the Cure For Brain Cancer colours and Ray’s Ride for Cancer emblazoned on it. Stratford Lions Club and Sale Lions Club have fallen in behind this project and we would like to make other members aware of this young man and his project. All of the costs that Ray incurs on his ride will be his own, so that all money raised will go to the Cure For Brain Cancer. See more
