22.01.2022 Please be aware that Sunday 15th will be a Total Fire Ban (Severe) No burning off, no angle grinding in tall grass etc. For what is legal on a TFB, please go to the CFS website and go to Bans & Ratings, or use the below link:... https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/ban/what-can-i-do-what-cant-i-do/

21.01.2022 Elsie the Erickson Aircrane is back on active duty for the next 84 days in South Australia. It's the third year we have hosted Elsie, and she is one of 26 aircraft in the CFS fleet that support our volunteer firefighters on the ground.

18.01.2022 Just a heads up that DEWNR will be conducting a hazard reduction burn south east of Ashbourne this afternoon. There may be smoke visible from Strathalbyn later this afternoon.

16.01.2022 A power line has come down at the corner of North Parade and Sunter Rd. The line is across the bridge and in the creek (probably why we have no power in Strathalbyn at the moment) The bridge is closed to all traffic along North Parade until SAPN crews can fix the issue.

15.01.2022 Today we responded to a stubble fire southwest of town. Even with the mild 24C weather, it didn’t take long to develop into a rapidly growing fire. 6 drops from the bombers plus crews from Currency Creek, Milang, Ashbourne, Woodchester, all 4 appliances from Strathalbyn and 4 Farm Firefighting Units quickly got on top of the situation. Approx 22 hectares were burnt. Thanks to all who helped.

15.01.2022 Anyone in the Clayton Bay area looking to become a Volunteer fire fighter, please call Jeremiah or anyone else on the post below.

14.01.2022 Without water, our fire trucks are not very useful at a fire. Quite often our nearest water source is a dam or water tank. Training tonight was pumping and draughting (drawing water from the dam to our onboard water tank) This skill is vital on the fireground.

13.01.2022 The Mount Lofty Ranges 2020-2021 Fire Danger Season start date has been announced from the South Australian Country Fire Service. It will begin on Tuesday the 1st of December. Remember, if you have any pile, paddock, or hazard reduction burns to manage, us at the Strathalbyn CFS may be able to assist.... Just send a message to our page and we will see if we can help.

10.01.2022 We were back at training tonight after a couple of weeks off over Christmas/New Year. To ease gently into the new year, tonight we pressure tested all of the hoses to ensure no leaks. If it looks a bit like a mad tangle of spaghetti, that’s because each of our heavy trucks has over 500m of delivery hose, plus more in suction and forestry hose. Confidence in your equipment means having one less thing to worry about when there is a fire.

09.01.2022 Just a heads up that we will be doing another hazard reduction burn on the outskirts of Strath on Paris Creek Rd.

08.01.2022 TIME has named Australia's volunteer firefighters their Heroes of the Year, We think it should go to all the front line and emergency services. But thank you TIME, we appreciate it.

07.01.2022 A good post from SA Country Fire Service to prepare for the upcoming Fire season.

04.01.2022 A great turnout for our Strathalbyn Group training exercise today. Pumping, draughting, and relay pumping. A pre Fire season group exercise to sharpen our skills. This is a very important one to learn. How to pump water from truck to truck and operate pumps keeping an eye on compound gauges to know when it is working correctly. Clayton Bay, Woodchester, Langhorne Creek, Milang, and Ashbourne brigades were all there with us. Great to see them all.... Was nice to have Vincent Tarzia and Josh Teague come out to say thanks for all our hard work too. #sundayfunday

03.01.2022 Fire Danger Ratings are an indicator of how dangerous a bushfire could be if it did occur. It is not a predictor of how likely a bushfire is to occur. Do you know what the different ratings mean?

03.01.2022 Sometimes it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog that matters. Here is our trusty and rugged QRV (Quick Response Vehicle) monitoring the perimeter of last nights hazard reduction burn. It can get into areas that our bigger appliances struggle to. 03.01.2022 Not just for Firies, but Ambos, Police and SES as well.

01.01.2022 To our Strathalbyn community, our brigade will be conducting a hazard reduction burn at Glenbarr on Paris Creek Road this evening. No need to worry if you see fire. Houses close to here may want to keep doors and windows closed from 19:00 to avoid any smoke getting into your homes. Thank you.
