25.01.2022 A Grade Result: The Stallions travelled over to Callington yesterday after the two sides had only clashed on the prior Thursday evening in a T20 match. The Cobras won the toss and elected to bat first and got the score to 25 before Harris struck in his first over. Harris then removed two more batsman and was involved in a run out and the home side were in trouble at 4/37 in the 14th over. A valuable 55 run stand followed however this would be the last of the meaningful partn...erships with the innings closed out in the 43rd over for 135. The Stallions not helping their cause contributing 24 wides and 5 no balls to the extras column. While only a small total on paper runs had proven hard to come by on the Callington turf this season. Schofield was promoted to the top of the order however he went in the 3rd over with the score on 14 followed by Luke Cousins in the 14th over with the score on 40. Harris then joined skipper Mark Abbott and these two steadied the run chase with a valuable 59 run stand. When Harris went in the 28th over followed by Hillam and Matt Abbott in quick succession the Stallions had been reduced to 5/114 in the 33rd over. Gaiter then combined with Mark Abbott to see the target reached in the 39th over, Abbott bringing up his 50 with the winning run. 24.01.2022 A2 Result: After enduring a challenging season the A2s headed into yesterday's home match against Lobethal with 5 changes including the unfortunate loss of leading wicket taker Rhys Johnson before the match due to illness. After winning the toss and batting and in the absence of Birt due to injury the Lane/Cutting opening pairing was reformed and they got the innings off to a solid start taking the score to 48 before Cutting was dismissed in the 12th over. Lane went shortly a...fter in the 17th over with the score on 53 but just when the all too familiar batting collapse seemed likely again Brett Abbott and Schubert added 56 for the 3rd wicket and at 3/109 after 30 overs the Stallions were reasonably well placed. After compiling a well made half century Schubert was the 5th wicket to fall with the score at 5/150 with 4 overs in the innings remaining. Tim Smith and Allen then added a further 30 to see the home side finish on 5/180, Smith looking good again with 27 not out. While 180 was one of the Stallions better efforts with the bat for the season the lightning fast outfield and a depleted bowling attack would mean it would be tough work to defend. The visitors started aggressively and had raced to 78 before Abbott got the breakthrough in the 14th over. Abbott then struck twice again with the Tigers going to drinks at 3/108 and seemingly looking on track to reel in the Stallions target. The 4th wicket fell with the score on 144 however that would be the last and the visitors ran down the total in the 33rd over. Abbott with 3 wickets the best with the ball and Liam Blair despite going wicketless bowling a top spell in his first A2 match this season finishing with 0/32 from his eight overs of leg spin. 24.01.2022 B Grade Result: The B Grade side were the shining light of the senior teams this weekend managing to defend a low total against Mt Barker at the EFS Senior School. After winning the toss and batting Humphrys was elevated to the opening position and he put on 42 for the first wicket with Gane before he went for 24. Schubert joined Gane and acted as the anchor for the innings as wickets fell around him and he was the 8th wicket to fall in the 25th over with the score on 125. Th...e innings then concluded on 128 in the 28th over and at this point seemed well under par. With the Mt Barker side having a number of in-form batsman a good bowling performance was needed and when Schubert removed the dangerous Horsell for only 8 in the 11th over the Burras were 2/41. Needing to bowl the visitors out to win the experienced Stallions set about doing exactly that and not allowing any partnerships of any note to form. Batting hero Schubert removing the final two batsman with consecutive balls in his 6th over with the visitors finishing 11 runs short on 117. A great win by the local lads and making it 2 wins from 3 matches this season. Strath 128 (27.2) def. Mt Barker 117 (34.4) T. Schubert 48 C. Humphrys 24 P. Gane 22 T. Schubert 3/23 (5.4) T. 24.01.2022 A2 Result: The A2s travelled to Hahndorf yesterday looking to finish 2020 on a high after a challenging first half of the season. Bowling first after losing the toss the Stallions made a great start and had both the openers back in the shed inside 2 overs. At 5/42 the Stallions were very much up and about however the experienced duo of Ben Judd & Tim Knappstein then added 70 for the 6th wicket to shift the momentum. Once again Judd would deny the Stallions finishing with a ch...anceless 103 not out which followed his scores of 114 not out and 89 not out in his previous 2 knocks against the Stallions. The home side eventually finishing on 6/175 from their 40 overs with Rhys Johnson the pick of the bowlers with 4/45. In reply the Stallions started with positive intent before Birt went in the 10th over with the score on 44. Unfortunately the solid start was not consolidated and the Stallions went to drinks at the half way mark of the innings in some trouble at 5/78. Cutting and Allen then steadied the innings somewhat combining to add 56 for the 6th wicket however they both went with the score on 132 and 44 was still needed from only 4 overs. The home side bowling tightly in the final overs to restrict the Stallions to 7/139 from their 40 overs. After winning their first game of the season the Stallions A2s have gone winless since despite being in winnable positions in nearly all of their matches. With a few guys to return to the side in the new year the lads will be looking to add a few more entries in the win column in the back half of the season. Hahndorf 6/175 (40) def. 22.01.2022 U16 Update - Stumps Day 1: A solid effort by the Stallions this morning against a visiting Woodside line up which included some dangerous batsman. After bowling first they dismissed the Warriors for 124 in the 36th over of the morning. 19.01.2022 B Grade Result: The B Grade team was only settled an hour before the game commenced but that didn't stop them from recording a big win over Hahndorf at EFS Oval. Winning the toss and batting the Stallions didn't start well with Humphrys removed in the 2nd over. Nick Brook & Gane then took the score to 43 before Brook went in the 13th over followed by Gane, Ruffell & Neumann and the Stallions had been reduced to 5/75 after 22 overs. Chris James who was playing his first game o...f the season then joined Newham and they added 122 runs for the 6th wicket before Newham went for 85 which included 9 fours and 5 sixes. James was dismissed in the same over for 51 after clearing the fence on 4 occasions before the Stallions finished on 7/212 from their 40 overs. Another first gamer for the season Sam Sherriff took the new pill and he soon had an entry in the wicket column breaking through in the 5th over of the innings. The young Hahndorf side's run chase never really got going after this with wickets falling at regular intervals before eventually being bowled out for 82 in the 29th over. 18.01.2022 Junior Blasters Update: It has been confirmed via SACA today that all Woolworths Cricket Blast programs must also be paused for 2 weeks in line with the community sport restrictions announced by the SA Govt. Both of the missed sessions will be made up however noting that this will mean the final session will now be held on Wednesday 16th December which is the week after the school term concludes. ... We hope to see everyone on Wednesday 2nd December and in the meantime stay safe and well.

18.01.2022 **Community Sport Update** While it is great to see some relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions it is important to note that community training and sport remains cancelled. It is anticipated that community sport will resume from 1 December but this is still to be confirmed. The SACA also sent out communication today which included clarification with respect to exercise and cricket (see extract included here). So essentially this means a trip to the nets needs to be solo or with members of your own household but not with mates.

17.01.2022 B Grade Result: The B Grade side had seven changes to the line-up from their previous match however the unavailability provided an opportunity to a few enthusiastic inclusions in Will Sizeland & Jeremy Halling. After batting first the Stallions were confronted with some very tight bowling before Gane went in the 6th over with the score on 14. Ruffell joined Nick Brook and they added 61 before Ruffell was dismissed for 33 which included six boundaries. Don Sizeland would see b...oth the Brook boys go before he was joined by Lachlan Cutting and they added 116 for the 5th wicket with Sizeland scoring a 79 ball hundred which included 10 fours and 9 sixes (and 6 singles!). Cutting finishing not out on 30 with the Stallions eventually compiling 5/223 from their 40 overs. With very few recognised bowlers in the line-up defending the total on the small oval was always going to be a big challenge. Bear Humphrys was introduced in the 16th over with immediate success however the score was already on 116 at this point. Acting skipper Nick Brook had a rare trundle and picked up a wicket with the catch taken by youngster Halling. To the Stallions credit they fought hard and took the game into the 33rd over before the home side ran down the total. Thanks to the young lads that filled in and the other guys that made themselves available on a warm day. 17.01.2022 A Grade Result: The A Grade group headed up to Mt Barker yesterday needing to win to ensure a finals birth remained secure and were asked to bowl first after losing the toss. Gaiter made a great start to the innings breaking through on the final ball of the first over and then again early in the 3rd to have the Kookaburras in some strife at 2/2. 43 was then added for the 3rd wicket taking the score to 3/45 however this was soon 5/49 after 19 overs. A few useful batting contri...butions followed however at 8/115 after 32 overs the visiting Stallions were well on top. A very valuable 49 run partnership for the 9th wicket gave the home side something to bowl at with the Burras eventually finishing on 9/172 from their allotted 45 overs. Gaiter and Matt Abbott with 3 wickets each and congratulations to Rhys Paterson who played a lone hand for the home side finishing with 109. In reply the Stallions started well with Luke Cousins and Matt Abbott getting the score to 41 before Abbott was first to go in the 8th over. Schofield's stay was brief with the Stallions on 2/63 after 15 overs however from here Cousins and Reekie took control of the match combining for an unbeaten 111 run stand to see the target reached in the 36th over. Cousins continuing his fine form this season with 79 not out and Reekie with his best knock since joining the club finishing unbeaten on 54. 16.01.2022 A Grade Result: Unfortunately the A Grade side has gone down in their clash against Nairne yesterday. After winning the toss and batting Nairne opening batsman Jarrad Tait got his side off to a flyer with a hard hitting 67 from only 44 balls and when he was dismissed on the first ball of the 13th over the score had already raced to 95. The Stallions then did a good job to drag things back with the score 5/144 at drinks after 23 overs. A handy 44 run 6 wicket stand then follo...wed before the home were eventually dismissed for 221 on the final ball of the 43rd over. Tim Dellatorre was the pick of the bowlers with 4/41. Needing a positive start the Stallions opening pairing of Luke Cousins & Reekie got the score to 33 before Cousins went in the 9th over. As was the case last week the fall of one wicket triggered a major collapse and the Stallions were soon in big trouble at 4/42 after 13 overs. Matt Abbott & Harris then steadied things somewhat with a 45 run stand however the bowling remained tight which kept the runs in check. Gaiter, Ben Cousins and Horan all got starts but the task proved too great with the score finishing on 8/153 after the allotted 45 overs. A disappointing loss and the lads will need to regroup for their home clash against Woodside this week. Nairne 211 (43) def. Strath 8/153 (45) T. Dellatore 4/41 (9) Matt Abbott 2/22 (8) Z. We understand that there is likely to be queries about how the QR codes and check in will work, especially for our junior players so we will continue to provide updates both on this page and via Team App as we find out more.

15.01.2022 **Senior Team Selections - 07/11/20** The A Grade side will go into tomorrow's must win home clash against Woodside with three changes from last week which is not ideal however it does give other players an opportunity. 14.01.2022 A Grade Result: The A Grade side has made a welcome return to the winners list after grinding out a win over Woodside at home yesterday. After winning the toss and batting the visiting Warriors started well and the score had reached 50 before Gaiter made the breakthrough in the 11th over of the day. The fall of this wicket allowed the Stallions to claw back the run rate and at drinks the score was 3/75. The fall of the 4th wicket on 77 was followed by a handy 5th wicket stand... of 33 however the locals continued to take regular wickets which contained the scoring before eventually dismissing Woodside for 137 in the 44th over. All five bowlers used took wickets with Gaiter and Mark Abbott with 3 each and Reekie chipping in with his first 2 wickets for the club. As is often the case small totals can be challenging to chase and some very tight bowling by the Warriors kept runs to a minimum early on. When both opening batsman were then dismissed in quick succession the Stallions looked in a spot of bother at 2/13 after 9 overs. Skipper Mark Abbott and the experienced Schofield combined for a vital 88 run 3rd wicket stand however when Schofield was dismissed for 40 the locals still required 37 runs with 6 overs remaining. Matt Abbott then contributed 24 at better than a run a ball before Matt Harris hit the winning runs with a boundary in the penultimate over. Skipper Abbott remained unbeaten on 57. 12.01.2022 U16 Result: The Stallions have consolidated top spot on the U16 ladder with an unlikely win at Woodside this morning. The Warriors dangerous opening pairing got things off to a flyer and when Frahn broke the partnership in the 11th over the score was already on 83. Two more wickets saw the home side go to drinks at 3/121 and very much looking on track to reel in the Stallions 192. ... After drinks the bowlers dragged the run rate back but wickets were proving hard to come by. Riley Tonkin then grabbed 2 wickets in the 32nd over which had the home side at 5/165 after 32 overs. Tonkin would then grab 2 more wickets in the 36th over followed by another to Frahn and the Warriors were reduced to 8/183 and still needing 8 runs from 3 overs to win. A run out left the Warriors at 9/187 before Frahn rattled the stumps soon after to secure an unlikely 5 run win. 09.01.2022 A Grade T20 Result: The Stallions have made a winning return to the AEHCA T20 competition with a 7 wicket win over Bremer-Callington earlier tonight. With the seeing conditions not fantastic and only on the decline the Cobras had no hesitation in batting first after winning the toss. Strath skipper Gaiter elected to go with the off-spin of Reekie first up with the over only going for 3 runs. The visitors then consolidated and pushed the score to 34 in the 5th over before the... first wicket fell to skipper Gaiter. From here a few handy contributions followed however the run rate always remained largely in check for the Stallions, the visitors eventually closing their innings on 6/130. In reply Reekie seemed intent on taking the fading light out of the equation and blasted 16 from the first over, all boundaries, however he was dismissed shortly after for a quick fire 27 from 17 balls. Mark Abbott then joined Luke Cousins and they got the score to 67 before Cousins went in the 8th over followed by Harris in the 10th with the score on 85. Matt Abbott then combined with Mark and the pair guided the Stallions home in the 16th over. A good first up win by the Stallions who will face Finniss at home in 2 weeks time. 08.01.2022 A2 Result: Despite some rain and being covered in the days prior to the match the wicket at Strath looked conducive to runs and Ashbourne had no hesitation in batting after winning the toss. Beelitz bowled beautifully early on going past the bat on numerous occasions before eventually striking on the final ball of his 4th over to have the figures of 1/1 after 4 overs. Ashbourne then moved onto 2/75 at the half way point of the innings but the Stallions looked to be in reason...able shape with the score 5/103 after 28 overs however a 60 run stand then shifted the momentum back to Ashbourne before the Bulls finished on 9/170 from their 40 overs. Beelitz, Doecke, Asel & Abbott all grabbed multiple wickets with Abbott's spell a great one conceding only 14 runs from 8 overs to go with his classic catch in the field. In reply skipper Lane tweaked a hammy very early in his innings but batted on and he was the first to go in the 9th over with the score on 25. The Ashbourne bowlers kept things very tight and the Stallions were 2/63 at drinks but needing to up the run rate in the back half of the innings. Abbott & Cutting put on 51 for the third wicket but the home side still needed 77 from the final 10 overs albeit with wickets still in the shed. 07.01.2022 **Wheaton has a Night Out** Earlier tonight Archie Wheaton blasted an unbeaten 77 in the U12 match played on the Strathalbyn turf confirming what we already knew that he is an emerging star. Definitely worth raising the bat for that effort, well done Archie!... We suspect the A2 captain may be on the phone to Archie before long.

05.01.2022 A2 Result: The Stallions took on Woodside at home yesterday with skipper Lane electing to bat first after winning the toss and the home side welcomed back Isaac Birt for his first game in some time. With Lane still battling a hamstring injury Abbott opened the innings with Birt and they made a solid start getting the score to 40 before Birt went in the 12th over, the highlight of his innings being a massive six that was retrieved from the practice nets. Abbott was then dismis...sed in the following over before Cutting and Harding put on 57 for the 3rd wicket, running between wickets was not a highlight of the partnership and Cutting was eventually run out. 3/101 soon became 5/105 before Lane, who was batting at 7 added 50 with Harding before Lane went in the 36th over. The Stallions finishing on 9/163 after their allotted 40 overs. Against a strong Warriors batting line-up the Stallions bowlers started well with tight line and length before Randall Birt broke through in the 5th over of the innings with the score on 21. A 2nd wicket fell in the 17th over and the game was evenly placed at 2/63 at the half way mark of the innings. Two quick wickets shortly after drinks had reduced the visitors to 4/72 before a couple of handy stands followed. When the 6th wicket fell with the score on 125 in the 31st over the Stallions were still in the game however the experienced Woodside team steadied and eventually ran down the total in the 36th over. Randall Birt was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets and keeper Hanley finished with four catches. 04.01.2022 A2 Result: The A2 side made the trip up to Maccy yesterday and seemingly ran over a few black cats on route as luck was certainly not with them yesterday. Macclesfield batted first and the opening pair got the score to 58 before Abbott made the breakthrough in the 16th over. The Redbacks then moved onto 1/93 at drinks and continued to come hard at the Stallions bowlers with many attacking shots just falling short of fielders. Despite it being tough going the bowlers continued... to work hard but with plenty of wickets in the shed Maccy continued to attack and eventually finished at 3/237 after their allotted 40 overs. In reply skipper Lane, who was battling a hamstring injury sustained the previous week decided to fight fire with fire and took 17 from the first over. However the fireworks were short lived as both Lane and opening partner Birt were back in the pavilion inside 3 overs and the Stallions were 2/18. Cutting and Abbott then steadied things somewhat with a 56 run stand before Cutting went in the 16th over however at drinks the Stallions were 3/88 and still in the game. Abbott & Harding put on 48 before Abbott went which was quickly followed by Wheaton who was out to a brilliant one handed catch at square leg. Hanley then joined Harding and they added 44 but ultimately the total proved too great with the Stallions dismissed for 175 in the 38th over. Macclesfield 3/237 (40) def. 04.01.2022 U16 Result: A great bowling effort in the back half of the innings has secured the young Stallions a good win over Lobethal/Lenswood this morning. With the game evenly poised at 2/68 at drinks Tom Wheaton broke the valuable 3rd wicket partnership in the 2nd over after the break. Riley Tonkin then grabbed 4 wickets in his next two overs and the visitors had quickly been reduced to 7/85. Jack Roberts was reintroduced and took the final 2 wickets to close out the game. ... 03.01.2022 A Grade Result: For the second time in 48 hours the Stallions A Grade side have unfortunately finished on the wrong side of a narrow loss. After winning the toss and batting against the visiting Hahndorf the Stallions started well getting the score to 49 before Reekie fell in the 14th over. Skipper Mark Abbott went in the next over for a duck before Luke Cousins and Schofield added 49 for the third wicket, Cousins the third wicket to fall scoring 59. Schofield then combined w...ith Harris to put on 92 before Schofield went for a very well compiled 78 which included 15 fours. Matt Roberts and Matt Abbott then both went cheaply with the Stallions closing their innings on 6/236 from the allotted 45 overs with Harris finishing not out on 44. While 236 was a solid total with the lightning fast Strathalbyn outfield it would still take some defending. In reply the Magpies made a positive start and got through to drinks without the loss of a wicket and the score on 87. Horan broke the partnership in the first over after drinks before 45 was added for the 2nd wicket which was then followed by the big wicket of Tait for 1 and soon after the visitors were 4/143 after 35 overs and still needing 94 from the final 10 overs. A couple more handy partnerships then left the equation of 13 being needed from the final over. Unfortunately for the Stallions the Magpies were up to the task and chased down the total with 2 balls to spare, the home side not helping their cause by contributing 20 to the wides column. Another close loss which will see the Stallions drop out of the top four but with plenty of cricket still to be played post Xmas they remain very much in the mix. Strath 6/236 (45) def by. 01.01.2022 B Grade Result: With 12 changes across the senior sides this weekend the B Grade team were forced to inject some youth with 2 x U16 and 3 x U14 players part of yesterday's 11 for the match against Bremer-Callington. Captain Neumann won the toss and batted first on a slow EFS oval with Sizeland the first to go in the 11th over with the score on 20. From here partnerships struggled to establish with the Stallions in a little trouble at 5/60 shortly after drinks. The U16 duo of... Riley Brook and Harry Hopkins, who was making his senior cricket debut then contributed a very valuable 42 for the 6th wicket and Brook then added an unbeaten 44 with skipper Neumann for the 8th wicket to see the score finish on 7/147 after 40 overs. Brook and Neumann both finished unbeaten on 30 and 29 respectively with senior debutant Hopkins chipping in with a solid 22. In reply the Cobras started well getting the score to 39 before Gane ended the partnership in the 8th over. U14 player Tyler Smith then removed the well set Rehn in the 14th over and the visitors were 2/72. Fellow U14 player Max Beaumont was introduced with immediate results grabbing 2 wickets but with the score at 4/123 after 25 overs the Stallions really needed a miracle. It was not to be and the Cobras scored the winning runs from the final ball of the 31st over. While not the result they were after it is very encouraging to see the club's junior players step up and contribute at senior level and hopefully they can take some added confidence back to junior ranks in the coming weeks. 01.01.2022 A2 Result: With only the one win prior to Christmas the A2 side were hoping to turn their fortunes around when they travelled to Langhorne Creek yesterday. The day started well winning the toss and electing to bat in the warm weather however the scorecard soon resembled a call to the emergency services with Abbott, Cutting and Jack Wheaton all making ducks and back in the sheds inside 6 overs. At 3/11 Lane and Hanley then steadied the innings a little before Lane was skittled... for 13 and the Stallions were 4/31. In one of the few positives of the day Tom Wheaton then joined Hanley and they added 28 before Hanley went with the score on 59. Wickets continued to fall around Wheaton who was batting beautifully before he was the 9th wicket to fall with the score on 95 which would be where the innings would end. A total of 6 ducks not making for an attractive scorecard. Tom Wheaton top scoring with a very well compiled 41. With bowling having been the Stallions strength all season there was some hope of an unlikely win however an aggressive start by the opening batsman made quick inroads into the small total. Rhys Johnson broke through in the 6th over however the score was already on 40 before Doecke grabbed a wicket with his first ball in the next over and a glimmer of hope emerged. It would be short-lived though and despite two further breakthroughs the Tigers easily ran down the total in the 21st over. A clear highlight of the day was the innings of 15 year old Tom Wheaton. With a few players to return next week it is hoped that the A2s can get back on the winners list and finish the season off in a positive manner.
