13.01.2022 Our representative on Strathfield Council is in his 30's and he is the youngest Councillor elected at the last election. We agree a more diverse range of ages and also ethnicities needs to be elected to have a progressive Council that looks at the future and not the past!

06.01.2022 You may have seen some propaganda recently in relation to councils plan to relocate our depot to part of an unused parcel of land at Homebush West next to the Arthur St Industrial Precinct. The full use of this land in my opinion is not safe for our residents and I would not risk my own families safety using this land as a park so therefore I can not expect the residents of Homebush West to either. Shame on Strathfield Labor for treating the residents of Homebush West like se...cond class citizens and expecting them to risk their families safety going to this land (This land is bounded by 2 busy roads, a goods railway, a cemetery and a waste storage facility and part of the land has overhead cables and an underground fuel pipe). This planned depot move is in relation to a proposed landuse swap with the end result being the eventual removal of Industrial Lands in the middle of Strathfield South in a completely residential area. The residents have been asking for Council to assist with the impacts of this Industrial land for decades including noise, pollution and extreme truck movements. At the last council meeting I made amendments to the motion to include a minimum additional 30% of openspace to be included in the new precinct (possibly 15,000sqm to 20,000sqm of new open space for our community) and also restrictions on heights that could impact residents or the streetscape to 3 storeys with a 9m set back from the street which is much greater that the existing set back. Cr Vaccari added in the consideration of shops, cafes, restaurants etc and that any financial gain from the land use swap be dedicated to the purchase of additional openspace my preference is for it to be in Homebush West. MY ADVICE TO RESIDENTS IS PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROPERLY. In my experience as a councillor it is very easy to say NO, give residents half the information run a scare campaign and do nothing just to ensure you look after your own re-election... this typical divisive party politics and it doesn't belong at LOCAL COUNCIL! This matter has been also been explained to our State Member Jodi Mckay MP by the Mayor of Strathfield Antoine Doueihi at their recent meeting and both Strathfield Labor and Jodie McKay MP they have yet to come up with a real solution for our residents.
