24.01.2022 Have you notice all the beautiful flowers in our parks and gardens? October is certainly a stunning time of year in and around our wonderful town. It’s the October Garden Club meeting this coming Friday in the St Andrews Church Hall - 9.30 for a 10.00am start. The bloom competition is the main feature so bring along those stunning blooms from your gardens. There are four categories - roses, a native bloom, any other bloom, a potted plant or this year a beautiful photo from your garden. Attached is the Newsletter for this month.

13.01.2022 Our Garden Club AGM is on 24th July. Strict measures are in place to facilitate this. Please read the following important notice - thank you. Strathalbyn Garden Club Annual General Meeting... Friday 24th July 10am (Doors open at 9.30am) St Andrews Church Hall Alfred Place Strathalbyn Important Details This will be a short meeting NOT a normal Garden Club meeting. There will be No morning tea No Raffle No Sales Tables. Only 70 members will be able to attend. Due to COVID 19 Social Distancing requirements of 1 person per 2 sq metres Do not attend if you are unwell or if you have been in contact with anyone who has travelled interstate recently. Members planning to attend must register before Tuesday 21st July either by email to [email protected] Or Leave your name in a phone message at 8536 6276 or text 0416 173 573 Members attending will be required to use hand sanitiser on entry and to help with the wipe down after the meeting. SUBS of $10 are due preferably paid by EFT: Strathalbyn Garden Club BSB 105019 account number 037 873 640. With your name in the remitter line. Or paid by correct cash in an envelope with your name clearly written on the front. Nominations for Committee Positions have been received from all serving members. Additional nominations are welcome on the official nomination form available from Jackie Chapman 8536 8798 and returned by Tuesday 22nd July to the Secretary Jenny Thomas 14 Taylors Lane, Strathalbyn. All reports will be published in the Strathalbyn Garden Club Newsletter which will be circulated to all members prior to the meeting. 12.01.2022 If you are a gardener (or a farmer) then you have been waiting for this. Rain, rain, beautiful rain. Last year Strathalbyn recorded 19mm at the Strath Bowling Club's rainfall gauge in the first four months of the year. This year we've had 152mm to the end of April, with 67mm falling this month. Check it out at www.strathgardenclub.com.au Our old website had been using an outdated program that is not supported any longer, hence there had been no additions made to it in the last three months whilst working on our new format. ... Yes there are changes and some omissions but hopefully you will find all that you need. See more

09.01.2022 News for June Our Garden Club Newsletter with lots of interesting news and advice is now waiting in your email inbox if you usually read it this way. Otherwise you can pick up a hard copy from Tracey at The Potting Shed on Sunter or download it from our club website. The news is, there's no meeting this month but keep July 24th free just in case and enjoy the winter sunshine when you can.

06.01.2022 Garden Club is on again this Friday 25th September with the speaker being David Cobbold from Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary. 9.30am for a 10.00am start at the St Andrew’s Church Hall. 04.01.2022 Important Notice Greetings Garden Club members, Unfortunately, due the current COVID outbreak we have decided to cancel the Garden Club Christmas lunch which was scheduled for Friday 27th November.... Regarding the refund Who knows what the future may hold but the Garden Club executive might consider holding a belated lunch in the middle of next year Or you could leave the $$ in the club funds to be put against any outings planned for 2021. Alternatively please contact Ced Huxter [email protected] to arrange a refund. Just to make sure that we contact everyone could you please mention the cancellation to any other Garden Club members that you know. 04.01.2022 We've had 70mls of lovely rainfall this month and it's evident in the green fields that surround our town and the gardens that are looking splendid. This is more rain than we've seen in October for the last 12 years and the current yearly total to date is 485mls. We can all thank La Nina at this time for not having to spend hours watering.

02.01.2022 Greetings Garden Club members, I hope you are all celebrating the rain! Good news. Garden Club is on again Friday 28th August in St Andrews Church Hall. 9.30 for a 10am start. We will have the raffle and morning tea as well as a guest speaker. So, almost back to normal.... Please note our COVID plan requirements: NUMBERS WILL BE LIMITED TO 70 so please register if you plan to attend either to this email or a phone message to 8536 6276 or text 0416 173 573. DO NOT attend if you are at all unwell DO NOT attend if you have been in contact with anyone who has travelled from interstate or who have themselves been in contact with any one who may have been infected. REMEMBER to sanitise your hands, maintain social distancing coughing protocol (cough into your elbow) wash your hands after using a tissue follow the directions of our COVID Marshals - Norma and Jackie. 01.01.2022 Anyone who has old garden tools and gardening books or magazines they wish to donate to the Kangaroo Island Garden Club is reminded to drop them off at Penny Fairweather’s house this week. Tania Richardson will be collecting them from Penny’s tomorrow and on Wednesday to take them across on Thursday. Thank you

01.01.2022 Cavalcade of Gardens - This morning the garden owners and their helpers braved the cool winds to to have a sneak peek of the gardens that are opening on Saturday for our Cavalcade of Gardens from 1-4pm. After this week's wonderful rain and a forecast on Saturday of a sunny 22 degrees, all gardens should be looking their best. We are hoping to see lots of our members and their friends for this event. Please remember to sign in each person attending.
