10.01.2022 Strathmore Physiotherapy & Pilates still operating as normal with all Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates sessions available. One of many initiatives we have implemented in this difficult time is each individual client changing the settings on their own machines under guidance by their physio during their class meaning: Only each individual touches their own machine to stop potential transfer of any germs from person to person... Machines are 1.5 metres apart to comply with social distancing As per normal, Pilates machines and treatment beds are always thoroughly sanitised before, during (if required) and after each session Hand sanitiser provided on entry and departure from the clinic All aspects of your health and safety are our priority! Thank you for your continued support.

10.01.2022 One question we commonly get is ‘Do only women do Pilates?’ The answer - certainly not. One of our Wednesday clinical pilates classes (see below) was full of men - One client competes in Ironman triathlons, one is an AFL Women’s/VFL umpire and one runs marathons. Each of these participants have been working out on their individualised programs weekly for over 5 years! The benefits of doing their program includes:... - Injury prevention - Injury rehabilitation - Increased strength and motor control - Increased athletic performance So if you are a man, or woman, and are interested in seeing if Clinical Pilates can help you achieve your goals, call us on 9379 3831. Both one on one and individualised group classes are available, supervised by Physiotherapists’.

05.01.2022 Strathmore Physiotherapy & Pilates is still open and working normal hours during this tough time. Please read below for further details

05.01.2022 SMALL CHANGES CAN MAKE BIG DIFFERENCES IN PAIN, ESPECIALLY WHEN WORKING FROM HOME Pictured above is a recent client who like many people in this COVID-19 pandemic has had to adjust to working full time from home. This includes trying to set up a work station that is ergonomically correct. The client presented to our practice complaining left hip pain which she thought was due to her new home exercise program. After careful and thorough assessment, we found that her hip pain ...was in fact caused by cumulative strain in her thoracic spine (middle back). In the first photo (yellow top), you can see that her middle and upper back is very curved, creating constant spinal cord stretch which was manifesting as hip pain. At consultation, we advised her on some simple changes she could make at home to unload her spine without having to buy a whole lot of new furniture. Taking on this advice, the second photo is how she adjusted - as you can see, her spine is much straighter and better supported. Immediately, her hip pain began to resolve. With some other manual therapy and clinical pilates strengthening exercises, she was able to make a full recovery. KEY POINTS: - Spinal posture is extremely important in both everyday life and with work set-up - Where your pain presents is not always where it originates from If you need any help with a home workstation set-up or postural education and strengthening, please call us on 9379 3831. @ Strathmore, Victoria, Australia
