The figures they shared are staggering! 27,000 dairy cows went through their b...ooks in the past 12months and around 9,000 young stock ! Remember this is only 2 agents . 55 dairy farms have ceased operating and most dairy farms have reduced numbers . I think it would be a conservative estimate that 30,000 dairy cows have left our district in the past 12 months . 1 dairy cow generates $4000 annually so that is $120,000,000 that will no longer flow through our local economy! It's also important to note that this occurred whilst Victoria was on 100 % water allocation and temp water was $400 . It's frightening to think what will happen with %40 allocation and temp water at $1000 ! Susan Maree McGillivray To make it worse the MDBA's Phil Townsend and other agencies who were given the task of predicting the impact the plan would have for our region came up with the advice that the reduction of Water would only have a modest effect on milk production ! Seriously they could have asked our Primary School children and they would have had a more accurate evaluation! Instead we have paid these morons who wear none of the responsiblity of their crappy work! Water It’s all about water and life its self The government has the power to release affordable water to its dairy farmers if it cared. Over seas countries are subsidised by their governments by up to 60% and dump their products in Australia’s free trade policy and we’re expected to compete with countries paying their people $3 per hr wages? Fair go Mr Morrison you are killing your own. May be a National exposure of politicians and their family members who own large water rights would explain things.
