10.01.2022 Hey Business Owners , have you got your accounts in check? TAX - does anyone really like talking about it? Probably not.. (except for accountants I guess ). Anywho, it's the EOFY. And if you're somebody that starts sweating at the thought of it (because you haven't set up your accounts properly) - well, let's agree to change that next year!... My top tips: #1 set up business specific accounts for your income and expenses first thing. You can then link and manage these accounts through programs like Xero very easily (highly recommend) - making EOFY time a breeze. #2 make sure you are putting money aside for tax throughout the year. Because you certainly do not want to be caught out with a big lump sum that you haven't accounted for (this step can be easily forgotten if you're new to business!). #3 If it's all too overwhelming or your business is a little more complex - seek advice from an accountant or financial adviser. So, if you're somebody who doesn't love numbers, try not to put your accounts in the 'too hard basket'. Truth is, not every part of business is fun! But keeping in control of your accounts & finances is super important Plus, it will save you a tonne of time in the long term!

07.01.2022 Having a giggle about what uni taught me vs. what I know now Don't get me wrong - uni was fantastic for learning all of the marketing and business fundamentals. However, I can honestly say that I learnt a lot of the skills that I use now elsewhere. Social media advertising, email marketing, content creating - none of this was a part of my uni degree. Then again, social media wasn't as influential back in those days (not that I'm old or anything ).... So, I decided to invest in myself and take online courses specifically based around my specialties. In an industry that is constantly evolving - I knew that I needed to stay in the know and continue educating myself Don't be afraid to invest in yourself and your business. And if you're not in the position to spend then that's totally okay too! There are so many free online tools and tutorials out there as well. Ask questions, learn from those around you and keep researching! We all had to start from somewhere. Rose Ayliffe Photography

04.01.2022 Let's talk about the O.G. Social Media Marketing... Word of Mouth Seeing as it's how I've received most of my business to date - I think that it deserves a post. It's one of the most traditional, yet still very prevalent forms of marketing. Not to mention, it's practically free! ... Stats show that '92% of consumers believe recommendations from friends and family over advertising' Think about your day to day life, would you agree with this? I know I do. Your friend tells you about an amazing product or service - you then try it and tell another friend.. creating the perfect snowball effect I honestly just bought my bathroom vanity because of a friends recommendation (shout out to @highgrovebathrooms). Final food for thought - Think about "connecting" with your audience, not just "collecting" them. Don't disregard the power of WOMM for your business! It could be one of the defining factors in its success. See more
