Kate Neilson Kate has been dancing for 16 years in a variety of styles including Hip Hop, Contemporary, etc. More recently she's been dancing with Hiya dance crew and has choreographed a few small items here and there, including a piece for Street Groove's Unbound Choreography Competition last year! ... 16.01.2022 INTRODUCING OUR NEXT CHOREOGRAPHER FOR OUR VIDEO SHOWCASE! Anuki De Silva A familiar face in Street Groove, Anuki has been a part of the club since 2015. As a young kid starting out with classical dance styles such as Ballet, Contemporary, Sri Lankan Kandyan and Indian Bharatanatyam, she eventually ventured into Hip Hop during high school and has stuck with it ever since. She loves her Hip Hop and House dance foundations and bases choreography from those! You may also kno...w her from the K-POP cover community leading Cider Dance, a part of DB Dance, and regularly teaching classes at QUTAPS! Anuki was SG Crew manager in 2018, has choreographed for our showcases every year since 2016 and now manages our social media! Fun fact: she doesn't sleep and neither she nor anyone else knows how she functions without it Street Groove has been working hard over these confusing times to produce content and classes for our members whilst in these restrictions! She first started out with ballet and then ventured into modern dance, contemporary, street jazz and hip hop. With the goal of becoming a more versatile dancer, Athena also eventually picked up heels and waacking. She has choreographed multiple pieces for Street Groove Showcases and various performances over the years, her achievements also include directing the ...Street Groove Showcase 2018. Fun Fact: She would rather buy expensive heels for dancing than wearing them out. Keann Chong Joining Street Groove in 2015, Keann started out with Hip Hop, but has recently transitioned to Waacking and House since being inspired by gender-positive and social dancers around the world. He loves foundations, sharing culture and encouraging dancers to express themselves and connect with each other through training hard and finding their freedom in movement. He organised the first Crew Showcase as ...Crew Manager, the first Street Groove battles, and was President of the club in 2019. Fun fact: He nearly got lost in the Brisbane river looking for a Dratini at 2AM when Pokemon Go came out. 03.01.2022 Happy New Year for 2021 everyone! We hope this year brings out the best in life for all of us, whatever we choose to do this year Flashback to @uqunion Club Awards 2020 at the end of October! Street Groove was lucky enough to take away the title of 'Club of the Year - Performance' for the second year in a row! We are so thankful to have been given this despite the year we've had Club awards was our first live performance back after the lockdown, and we were really grate...ful to have shown everyone what we had been up to in that time! We showed various styles of dance on stage (House, waacking, hip hop and choreography), ended with a freestyle cypher, and dedicated our performance to the BLM movement We also want to take this moment to thank our 2020 exec team, especially our president @andrewquachlin. 2020 was a tough year to be leading a club that heavily requires interaction, so we are so thankful for everything you have done for us to keep our club going through these uncertain times With that said, we hope all our members were still able to take something away from their time with us in 2020, whether it was through our online classes, our online video project, our showcase/competition, or our in-person classes and jams!!
